A Kenyan national has been jailed for 14 months by a Swedish court after being found guilty of assaulting his wife in Stockholm. The Kenyan was arrested by police who arrived at his residence after someone called police to report that a woman was being battered in the apartment. When police arrived, they found the woman with bruises on her neck while her face was swollen.

During hearing, the woman appeared to have been attempting to help her man go free by denying that she was beaten and telling the court that he was a good husband. However, the prosecutor rejected the woman’s testimony by adopting evidence collected by police at the scene of crime. The evidence suggested that the woman had been battered. The man denied the charges and told the court that the woman hurt herself when she fell and hit her head on the door.
