After many months of dilly-dallying, KSB’s photo link has been set up. Traditionally, KSB has had to be flooded with a stream of photos following every event where photos are taken in large numbers. Even then, it hasn’t been possible to publish all the photos due to the risk of boring readers with endless photo updates even after the event has been overtaken by time. That era is now gone for ever because kenyastockholmpix.com is up and running.
To put it mildly, this is where photos will literally be exploding out of control to give room at KSB for proper propaganda, sizzling rumours and hot pilipili hoho gossip brought by agents who are just returning from summer holidays heavily loaded with digital cargo.
The purpose of KBS Pix is to enable those whose photos are taken by KSB’s paparazzi to have access to these photos in an orderly way. In any case, it is of no use taking very good photos then keeping them in the archives. Although the photos “never gather dust” because they are digital, they waste valuable disk space which would rather be freed for more productive projects. Although photos will be the main attraction at the site, there will be occasional articles about photography to break the monotony.
We hope that readers will find this link useful. It will soon be linked at KSB for easy accessibility. We urge our readers to view the new initiative as yet another attempt to improve services to our esteemed readers, make cyberspace a better place to visit and to build lasting memories of key events that come and go as the cycle of life continues.
While photos will be published as time lapses, part of the agenda is to avail photos that have never seen day light. With the setting up of “KSB Pix”, and given the advantage of photos being worth a zillion words, the Kenya-Stockholm and the wider African histories will, no doubt, find a new medium of exposure.
Since KSB was set up, the photo link at the blog site has been scoring the highest clicks although it has not been so active. Due to time and other constraints, it has been difficult linking the photos to the link but now, a new era has began. The old link will be replaced by the new one with a stream of photo uploads which will keep readers bizzi with what the eye likes to see – good photos. In case your photo is published and you don’t want it up and running (sometimes we might think it’s good but for you it’s actually horrible), don’t panic. Just pick up your smart phone (iPhone is better) and let us know. If you don’t have an smart phone, borrow one because our system is configured to accept calls from smart phones only. You have been warned.
From experience, we know that a photo might be fantastic, or even spritastic but it may put you in an awkward situation. One example will do. You are a lucky dude with a nice sweet GF who is head over heels in love with you. You are at a Kenyan party and you have already taken one too many. In fact, you are getting horny. In the spur of the moment, you forget that you have an adoring GF who could not make it to the Party because she had travelled to Denmark. You then grab this lassie who caught your attention as she shook her behind sexily on the dance floor as your imagination jumped from position to position. You then proceed to request for a photo opportunity.
The big problem is not actually the photo being taken but the pose you have taken with her. It is not just romantic but also very suggestive because not only have you squeezed her “dangerously” close to you but both of you look like long-time partners who have been hanyaring for months. In fact, the posture you assume could even prompt a friend who knows you to call to establish if you have dumped Monalissa, your well-known GF.
Once the photo is taken, you forget about it and continue partying as if the world will be coming to an end in a few hours. The following day, a friend calls you to inform you that the photo has hit KSB. You emerge from your deadly hang-over and get online asap. Once you view the photo, the imaginations that begins to fly across your brain suggest that you may be in trouble as soon as your GF views the photo. What do you do? Reach for your iPhone and call KSB photo department. Request that the photo be pulled down because of private reasons. No questions will be asked because the idea is not to post photos of subjects against their will. However, be polite because KSB Crew can also be very rude if you are rude. That is how bad it can get but we hope for the best.
Needless to say, the new site will make it easier to categorize photos, increase ease of navigation and boost interest in photography in general. We welcome photographers interested in partnership to take contact for discussion on input that might be vital in expanding the idea. Lastly, we thank all fans (Kenyans and non Kenyans) who have been pushing for this idea because without pressure, the site could still be at the planning or idea stage.
