A Kenya-Stockholm woman alleged to have deported her step daughter to Kenya following a romantic dispute between the daughter and the woman’s jungu hubby, has said that she is not responsible for her step daughter’s deportation.
Speaking to KSB on telephone, the woman said that she does not know the circumstances under which Adhiambo Sianda was deported. “I was equally surprised to read at KSB that she had been deported”, she said.
“I had disagreed with her and after she brought our disagreement to KSB, many people assumed that I was responsible for her deportation”, the woman told KSB. She sounded calm, relaxed and collected.
When asked whether it is true that Adhiambo had snatched her hubby, the woman said that it is wrong to use the word “snatch”.
“Adhiambo is a grown up girl and I always left her in the house with my husband because being my step daughter, I trusted her”, she said. “I think she was simply tempted to do what she did, probably thinking that such action would solve her problems”, she said. “To say that she snatched my husband is to suggest that we were in a kind of struggle which is not the case”, she added.
The woman disclosed that she had separated with her husband because after the incident, their relationship was untenable. She said that she brought Adhiambo to Sweden “to help her find something to do” but that the girl had let her down.
“She was a good girl but she got bad influence which led her to do bad things”, she told KSB.
When asked about who may have influenced Adhiambo, the woman said that there is a group of friends in Märsta who convinced Adhiambo that she had a bleak future unless she could befriend her jungu step father. “These same friends are now laughing at her after she was deported to Kenya”, the woman told KSB.
She said that after a lot of soul-searching, she had decided to contact KSB to tell her part of the story because her friends have accused her of wrong doing on grounds that she masterminded Adhiambo’s deportation.
“I want to make it known that although I was very disappointed with my girl, I am not the person who could have helped deport her to Kenya”, she said. “After all that she did, I thought about what I should do and forgave her because she did not know what she was doing”, the woman told KSB, adding that she is a devout Christian who does not believe in revenge.
She said that at first, she was bitter that the story had been published at KSB but that with time, she understood the circumstances. “That is why I have decided to use the same media to make Kenyans know that I have nothing to do with Adhiambo’s deportation”, she said. “Those who have been challenging me for having called police to deport Adhiambo should know that I have nothing to do with it”, she said.
