There was drama yesterday in Nacka as ”Kenyans Against Impunity” picketed outside the residence of the Kenyan Ambassador to Scandinavia Mrs. Purity Muhindi. The protesters, who were against Purity’s style of leadership at the Kenyan Embassy in Stockholm, were the first to arrive shortly before six and kept vigil outside the gate. The evening’s agenda was a dinner reception for a group of Kenyan MPs who are on official tour in Sweden.
The protesters told KSB that they were angered by Purity’s secret “hand-picking” of a select few Kenyans to meet the dignitaries. They said that if Purity was democratic, the invitations could have been open, arguing that Kenya is tottering on the brink of disaster and that anybody sitting in Parliament ought to have an opportunity of meeting Kenyans in Stockholm for dialogue and comparison of notes.
The protesters kept vigil for the “secret guests” aka Walambaji whom they accused of betraying the community by accepting the secret invitations. “They sell their dignity for a plate of ugali and a glass of wine”, a protester told KSB. It was very embarrassing as every guest was greeted with a stream of placard waving, slogan chanting Kenyans. A Comprehensive report is being prepared by KSB and will be posted shortly.
