  1. Read one of the highest Impunity case in the history of Kenya and after the promulgation of the new constitution

The Govt dropped Waititus Criminal case just to save him from loosing his job in PARLIAMENT (wILL ANY MP ,mINISTER BE CHARGED IN COURT HENCE LOOSING HIS/HER JOB?

Police were ordered to withhold charges lined up against Assistant minister and Embakasi MP Ferdinand Waititu.

Sources said officers handling the case were called and ordered not to take him to court as planned, ostensibly because that would ruin his political career.

CID officers from the new Makadara Police Division were ready to move to court and register Waititu’s case yesterday morning when they received instructions to “carry out further investigation”.

    Further notice

Nairobi politicians, including a Cabinet minister, are said to have prevailed upon senior police officers to hold the charges of incitement until further notice.

“You know if he steps in court, he has to step aside from his ministerial position until the case is heard and determined and that is why there is pressure for us to hold the case,” said a senior officer, who asked not to be named.

Security had been beefed up at the Makadara Law Courts awaiting the arrival of the assistant minister.

Waititu had been released on a Sh10,000 police bond on Monday after he pledged to come to court yesterday.

He had been arrested during a dramatic demolition at the KPA slums, off Mombasa Road, Nairobi, after he allegedly told residents not to move out.

The assistant minister had arrived in an official car and tried to tell residents to stay put when anti-riot police landed on him and dragged him into a police car.

It is at the same area that four police officers were injured and two bulldozers burnt in a clash last week. Embakasi OCS lost his gun.

At the Industrial Area Police Station, Nairobi, the MP told journalists that he had been told he was under arrest.

Police officers said they feared the Embakasi MP’s remarks could lead to violence similar to last week’s that saw an officer injured and property damaged.

  2. When Luis Moreno Ocampo – the prosecutor for the International Criminal Court at The Hague, Netherlands – names six top Kenyans Wednesday accused of orchestrating mass violence in late 2007 and early 2008, Kenyan security forces around the country will be prepared for the worst.

ICC to name Kenyan politicians behind 2007 poll violence
ICC to investigate Kenya election violence. Will leaders cooperate?
    How Kenya came undone
.They have good reason. Supporters of at least one senior Kenyan, William Ruto, who was minister of both agriculture and higher education, have vowed to make their Rift Valley region “ungovernable” and to unleash a wave of mass violence modeled after the Rwandan genocide. Their motive: to punish their enemies, especially those who have testified against Mr. Ruto, and to prevent Ruto’s possible arrest and extradition to The Hague.

Calling themselves the “Friends of Hon. William Ruto,” a group of 20 prominent Kenyans, including famous marathon runners, prominent businessmen, ex-military officers, and local elected officials, has spent significant portions of the past year obstructing the ICC’s investigation, intimidating witnesses, and planning a Rwanda-style ethnic cleansing in the Rift Valley. The aim: to prevent the possible extradition and arrest of their ethnic group’s top politician for his alleged role in promoting the 2007-08 post-election violence, according to minutes of the group’s meetings and other evidence obtained by the Monitor that is also in the hands of Kenya’s National Security and Intelligence Service and the ICC.
