According to intelligence reaching KSB headquarters, Ambassador Purity Muhindi is set to give the Kenya-Stockholm Football team a lunch treat at her residence in Nacka, today Sunday 15th August at 14.00 sharp. According to sources close to Purity, the treat is to enable the Ambassador get to know members of the Football team following their qualification to the finals of the just concluded Africa Challenge Cup which the Kenyans lost to the Tanzanians by 3-1.
The initiative appears to have been born out of the realization by Purity that there is no way she will win the confidence of members of the Kenya-Stockholm community if she doesn’t engage them at different levels. Although the treat has been a complete secret only known to KSB and certain Kenyans, it is a positive development which deserves support.
Purity’s appearance at the Finals of the Africa Challenge Cup on the 31st July was, in itself, a step in the right direction. At last, she got herself to understand that personal isolation from her own people far away from home is not a good PR strategy and after the Lunch treat, the next item that should be on Purity’s agenda is to consolidate the gains from the Football match and the sense of good will that was expressed during her presence in Fruängen to reach out to an even wider audience within the Kenya-Stockholm community.
KSB has been opposed to the idea of Purity remaining locked in her Office or only dealing with white Swedish bureaucrats at the expense of the Kenya-Stockholm community. For KSB, the sticking point has been that in as much as Purity needs to attend to her diplomatic responsibilities, she ought not to lose sight of the fact that she is the representative of the Kenyan government in Scandinavia.
Under the circumstances, she is under an obligation to engage Kenyans in Scandinavia and it is this light that her Lunch treat needs to be viewed. We take this opportunity to welcome Purity into the world of reality hoping that she will maintain the tempo in the weeks and months to come. With good collaboration between Purity and Kenya-Stockholmers, a lot of progressive developments could take place in the interest of the community here.
KSB will continue to congratulate Purity when she scores a point and reprimand her when she falters or fails to live up to expectation. As a key media outlet of Kenyans in Scandinavia, keeping a watchful eye on Ambassador Purity is part of KSB’s responsibility.
