There has been a major breakthrough in negotiations between the Owili family and the late Kenyan’s brother who has been locked out of the flat he used to live in after the door lock was changed by the Owili family. As a result of a deal that was struck on Friday evening, Mr. Owili’s brother has been given the key to the flat ahead of tomorrow’s harambee and given at least 30 days to sort himself out before leaving the flat.
This means that he has until January to relocate from the flat although the option of further negotiations in the future were left open. It was also decided that his ticket expenses will be included in the budget of funds that will be raised by the public tomorrow Saturday to avoid a situation where he could have been forced by circumstances to call a parallel harambee that could have hurt the main harambee.
The deal was brokered by “Three Eminent Kenyans” in Stockholm who were led by Mzee Oyuga Odada. Others in the negotiation team were Mr. Mark Agar Gaya and DJ Jimmy Omodho. The deal was brokered at the residence of the late Owili in Hörnstull in Stockholm and in the presence of other members of the Owili family.
According to the team which negotiated the deal, Mr. Owili’s brother has welcomed the deal and appealed to everybody to turn up at the funds drive scheduled for Saturday at Drakenbergsgatan 2 in Hörnstull, Stockholm. He thanked the three Eminent Kenyans for securing the deal that, he said, has now resolved a major outstanding issue. He promised to be at the harambee to support it so that his brother’s body could be transported to Kenya.
The deal will, most likely, be welcomed by Kenyans and friends who were getting concerned that the rift within the family was casting a negative spell on the impending funds drive. In the meantime, all plans for the harambee have been finalized and Kenyans, friends and well-wishers have been requested by the Committee to turn up in large numbers to help raise cash so that the body of the late Owili can be transported to Kenya to be laid to rest.
The Owili Funeral Committee is being headed by Mrs Hellen Opwapo who is also the Chairperson of ODM Scandinavia.
