Children’s Garden is on tour in Sweden from 19 to 29 September! Its about children and young people who play “Our Life”, a show which is about their own experiences of living on the street, growing up in slums, abandoned by parents or about running away from difficult family relationships.
The time for the show at Bio Rio is 19 September at 18 Hrs. After the film, there will be theater with Child’s Garden and later discussion about HIV/AIDS in Kenya and Sweden.
Children have heavy life experiences, but the performance conveys a wonderful vitality which guarantees living on and living longer!
On that day Katarina Norra will collect money for Children’s Garden. Last year the collection was over 30 000 SEK.
On Friday, 25th September, pupils at the school will meet some of the children in the Children’s Garden. There will be a chance to learn more about the Children’s Garden while children will be able to learn about each other.
Last year, Children’s Garden attended an Art Festival in Kenya and they came second. Children bit their teeth and said: “Next year we will win”! This was realized. This year, Children’s Garden came first with song-dance programs while they took the first prize in guitar playing. It’s Shadrack who is the guitar player. He heard about the guitar playing for the first time two years ago and soon, he had the opportunity to play. Since then, Shadrack and the guitar
have become best friends. 9 children and adolescents between 7 and 20 years are on tour along with 4 conductors.
Parents and siblings who want to see the show, “Our Life” have a chance of doing so on Saturday, 26 September at the Spring Arts – Culture School in Farsta. There will be two performances: 15:00 or 19:00
Before the show, we will show the film, “Citizen Oketch” recorded in Kibera in Nairobi – which is Africa’s largest slum. Children’s Garden is located in Kawangare, Kibera. It’s a fluke that we can show the film on this particular day! Many thanks to CineAfrica!
