Mr. Hussein Symbatya, a Ugandan who has been very close to the Kenyan community in Stockholm, is dead. Mr. Hussein passed away at Dalen hospital in Stockholm at around 19.00 hrs today Monday August 17th 2009. The late Hussein had been suffering from cancer of the urinal bladder and although he was given one year to live by Swedish doctors, KSB contacts who visited him in hospital last week said that he could die at any time.
The “Hussein Funeral Committee” is meeting tomorrow at Afro-Svenska lokal in Skanstull (Bohusgatan 25) to discuss funeral arrangements. The Committee was set to meet on Saturday the 29th but following Hussein’s death, an emergency meeting has been called tomorrow. Mr. Hussein had said that it was his wish that he be buried in his home village in Uganda. The East African community who knew Hussein has entered into shock.
KSB sends condolences to the family of Mr. Hussein. The late Ugandan was a very good contact of the blog site and we will always miss him. There is no word to describe this great loss and we hope that the family will find strength to go through this very difficult moment.
Mr. Hussein will be remembered for his conviviality and unsurpassed humility which he so often demonstrated during his life. He was a social and jocular person whose relationship with contacts was excellent. Hussein was a dynamic man who had mastered many East African languages and he will greatly be missed by those who knew and loved him. Further info will be circulated as the situation develops.
