It has been a season of bereavements in Stockholm: With profound sadness, the family of Ken Njau announces his passing in Kenya after a long period of illness. Ken, a former Kenya-Stockholmer who returned to settle back in Kenya a few years ago, has now taken his final rest, leaving behind memories of resilience, quiet strength, and a life lived across continents and communities.
For many in the older Kenyan diaspora in Sweden, Ken was part of a generation that carried the early dreams and struggles of life abroad. Though some younger Kenyans who arrived in Sweden later may not have known him personally, his story remains part of the shared history of a people who built lives far from home while holding onto their roots.
Ken will be cremated as per his wish to be interred within 3 days. The cremation will take place on Friday, 6th February 2026, at Langata Crematorium starting at 1:00 pm, where family and friends will gather to offer their final farewell.
During this deeply difficult time, the family is also facing an outstanding hospital bill of KSh 1.2 million at Coptic Hospital following the exhaustion of insurance cover.
With humility and hope, the family is appealing for financial support to help settle this burden and allow Ken a dignified farewell. A WhatsApp group has been set up by the family in Kenya to help coordinate funeral arrangements, share updates, and provide further information to those who wish to stand with the family during this time.
The link is attached, and all who are touched and willing to support or follow arrangements are warmly encouraged to join. Contributions, big or small, will be deeply appreciated and can be sent to Grace Mwangi (Pochi la Biashara) on 0722 856 373.
In moments like this, community becomes strength, and through shared compassion, we help carry one another through grief and remembrance.
May Ken’s soul Rest In Eternal Peace.
