The vigil of the late Kaberwa at Huddinge Hospital unfolded in a deeply solemn and reverent atmosphere, as friends and companions gathered quietly to pay their final respects to a life that had touched many in profound ways.
It was an hour suspended between memory and farewell — a sacred pause where grief, love, and reflection stood side by side. One by one, friends approached to view the body of our departed brother, each carrying private memories, shared laughter, and unspoken words that now lingered only in the heart.
The weight of loss was tangible, settling gently yet firmly over the room, reminding all present of the fragile boundary between presence and absence.
Pastor Overa led the mourners through heartfelt prayers and moving Christian hymns, offering spiritual comfort and a sense of collective strength in the face of sorrow. The melodies, soft yet resolute, seemed to cradle the grief in the room, allowing tears and silent reflection to coexist with gratitude for a life well lived.
The atmosphere remained respectfully quiet, marked by deep remembrance, as the reality of death settled into the consciousness of all who stood witness. Kaberwa lay in stillness — appearing as though resting peacefully, yet unmistakably beyond the reach of earthly call. It was a moment that invited both acceptance and longing, a reminder of life’s fleeting yet meaningful journey.
Approximately thirty mourners attended the vigil, many of whom shared close personal, professional, and community bonds with Kaberwa. Their presence spoke volumes — a silent testimony to the relationships he built, the kindness he extended, and the imprint he left on those fortunate enough to know him. In their shared silence, there was unity; in their sorrow, there was collective honour.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at Bagarmossen’s Folkets Hus from 14:00 hrs to 19:00 hrs at Lilåvägen 44, and all are warmly welcome. Friends, sympathizers, and well-wishers will gather not only to mourn but to celebrate the fullness of Kaberwa’s life — to share stories, offer comfort to the bereaved family, and ensure that his memory continues to live through the lives he touched. It will be a time of togetherness, reflection, and communal healing.
The burial will take place on Thursday, 12th February, at Botkyrka Cemetery, where family and friends will commit his earthly remains to rest with dignity and reverence.
Though Kaberwa’s physical presence has departed from this world, his spirit, influence, and memory will continue to live in the hearts of all who walked beside him in life. In grief, we remember. In remembrance, we honour. And in honouring, we ensure that he is never truly gone.
