Following the announcement by the IEBC that the Jubilee coalition has won election, KSB takes this opportunity to congratulate all Kenyans for the peaceful manner in which they have conducted themselves, during both the electioneering and tallying processes.
The Coalition for Democracy and Reforms (Cord), which has raised issues with the tallying process, has stated that it will go to court to challenge the results. This is what the Constitution says and KSB hopes that all Kenyans who voted will now settle down and continue with their normal lives as the Jubilee coalition begins its term in Office.
The electioneering has been rigorous, and, sometimes, all shades of propaganda dominated the scene from both sides of the political divide. This is normal in any political competition.
Obviously, KSB was pro-Cord coalition, just like Jubilee had its supporters. To use a tired cliché, in every election there must be winners and losers. Irregularities on the tallying process have been raised by Cord and as the Cord coalition pushes its case to court for the country to await for the outcome, life must go on.
From the transparency of the tallying process by IEBC witnessed at Bomas of Kenya, and in the absence of no credible evidence so far produced to challenge the verdict of IEBC, KSB believes that the outcome of the election reflect the will of majority of voters who gave Jubilee their votes. The IEBC has done a fantastic job in managing the process and KSB congratulates the Commission together with its officers.
While KSB wishes Cord well with its court process, we believe that any Kenyan with ambitions for the presidency of Kenya should focus on Election 2017, time when it will be possible to audit Jubilee performance.
