NAIROBI, KENYA: Miguna Miguna was on Monday questioned by police after his house help claimed he had assaulted and chased her from his home in Runda, Nairobi. Miguna at the same time claimed he kicked woman out of his compound after learning she was planning to poison him. He also claimed his life is in danger and asked the police to provide him with twenty-four-hour security in a statement he sent to newsrooms.
Miguna, who is a former aide to Prime Minister Raila Odinga told journalists in his compound he had learnt the woman had been paid Sh1 million by two bodyguards of two ministers to poison him. He has written two books in which he has made accusations on the PM, claims which are yet to be substantiated. The woman walked to Runda police station Monday morning and claimed Miguna had assaulted and chased her from his home. She said the former aide had even refused to allow her to pick up her clothes.
It was then that a team of CID officers was sent to the compound to establish the truth of the matter and quizzed him for almost an hour before leaving. By then, the social media was abuzz with claims that Miguna had been arrested and locked up at the local police station. Gigiri OCPD Patrick Mwakio confirmed a report had been made accusing Miguna of among other things assault. He added Miguna had been to the station in the morning hours to report a different matter in which he also made accusations against a man.
“He reported to the station for different issues and not on the accusations made against him,” said Mwakio. Police had been reluctant in seeking his statement regarding the house help’s claims until when journalists who had been tipped off of the report that they decided to go to his house, few kilometers away from the police station. And after he recorded his statement with the CID officers, Miguna invited journalists into his compound saying he had used his hard earned money to build it.
After he had granted the journalists a brief interview, he turned on them and ordered them to leave the compound. “Leave now, I do not want to see people packing their belongings in this compound. Get out now because I know you have been sent by Raila,” said a bitter Miguna. He denied he assaulted the woman terming the claims as mere allegations. Miguna claimed his nephew who stays in the house had informed him that the house girl had told him of plans to poison him and that she had been paid Sh1 million for the mission.
“At about 7:10 am, I terminated the house help’s employment in writing and paid her the monthly salary of Sh10,000 even though her pay is not due up to the end of February this year. She signed the termination letter voluntarily. There was no physical contact between me or my nephew and her.” Guards at the nearby compound said Miguna had even thrown the woman’s clothes out of the gate as she escaped to seek police protection. Mwakio said they will investigate the assault claims and make a report for action by relevant authorities. He said they will seek a clarification from the terrified house help. She refused to drive with the police to Miguna’s compound.

Tuesday, the 19th of February 2013 – The Restore and Build Kenya (RBK) candidate for Deputy President, Winnie Kaburu, has accused the government spokesman Muthui Kariuki of bias in the way that he dismissed claims of rigging brought forward by the Reforms and Democracy (CORD) led by Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Kaburu said that the government’s spokesman’s offhand dismissal of the claims of rigging may give credence to the belief that he is pulling for a certain candidate;
“As RBK, we have had concerns about manipulation of the electoral playing field to make certain candidates “preferred candidates,” she said.
“But when the government spokesman takes serious allegations casually, the country is left divided, insecure and confused just two weeks to the General Election,” she added.
On Sunday Kariuki dismissed CORD’s claims of rigging saying it was part of a plot to create doubt about the election results should CORD lose;
“The allegations by CORD are part of a political strategy by the Alliance to reject the elections should the outcome not favour them,” he said.
“The Prime Minister is a co-principal in this administration and the coordinator of all government activities; one is bound to wonder whether this coordination also involves the rigging of forthcoming elections.”
Today Kaburu said that Raila’s concerns should be taken seriously whether or not he presented concrete proof of early rigging;
“We have no way of knowing whether this is political propaganda. Part of the government should not make allegations without giving out all the particulars to the relevant authorities.”
“But when the government spokesman goes on national TV to counter claims of rigging, we are forced to revisit Raila’s allegation on vote rigging.”
But Kaburu’s main gripe seemed to be with the government spokesman’s perceived turn as a mouthpiece for the Jubilee alliance;
“Is this not to endorse Uhuru and Ruto in this presidential race? Is this not to say that the government is working for certain candidates? Is the Government spokesman holding brief for the Jubilee candidates?”

Millicent came to your residence with two junior policemen; she was invited to enter the compound/house; she declined; boarded a motor bike she had come with; PANICKED, and left! The panic I think was caused by her pathological fear of motor bikes, and nothing else, for example your towering intimidating figure or reaction.

What kind of intimate relation or ecstasy could have prompted Millicent blurt out the assassination plot in a weak moment incriminating herself while watching TV in the company of your nephew, if at all there was such a lpot?
How do you take credit for ‘the wave of rebellion’ in your wild imagination, sweeping across the Luo land that warrants your elimination ? It’s not abnormal for a political party to face rebellion from within its ranks. Some will be dealt with, others brushed aside, some side-stepped. ODM is not an exception. In the recent nomination exercise all parties faced such scenarios. To claim you have swayed the CORD boat in Nyanza and elsewhere is a stale joke.

you people should be rational. this maid had worked for MM for 4 years, he was paying her 10,000 and paying fees for her daughters. there is something called thank you in life. Let raila and his friends take over. By the way the lady is not young and is very plump. she is not one of those starved maids. Did you not see her in the star newspaper. she lived well. give credit where it is due. that is why her relatives are silent. they know what they gained. Raila ashindwe 4/3/2013.
