A 16 year old Kenyan teenager is said to be “head over heels” in love with a 43 year old Swedish woman who has allegedly been draining the teenie’s balls for almost a year. The alarm was raised in July this year by the teenie’s dad who told KSB that his son “has been taken over by a Swedish bitch”. According to the dad, the woman has derailed the child’s education by diverting his attention with “round the clock sex” through systematic brainwashing, pornography and expensive presents.
Because of the seriousness of the matter, the poor Kenyan dad took the woman to court, accusing her of hijacking his son, using him as a sexual object, corrupting his morals, derailing his education and draining his energy through a 24/7 sexual marathon.
According to the charge sheet, the sex marathon has allegedly weakened the boy physically, remarkably shrunk his butts and left him drastically confused. The dad told KSB that his son will never have a normal relationship with a girl in his age group if he is not rescued soon from “the bitch!”
The dad also claimed that the boy’s health was at serious risk because the “Swedish food” he was being fed was not commensurate with the difficult job the boy was doing on bed. According to the dad, the boy was being fed on a diet of potatoes, tomato soup, pork sausages, spaghetti and pan-cakes instead of being fed on a compact diet of ugali served with fried beef and si-kuma-wiki (kales). The dad told KSB that when he saw his boy, he nearly cried because the lad looked frail.
When the matter came to court, the dad lost the case after the boy declared that he loved the woman “to death”. According to the prosecutor, the boy is sixteen years old and that when it comes to matters of coitus, the fundamental question the court could consider was whether the coitus was consensual.
“The boy has declared that he loves (the woman) and since he is sane enough to make good judgement, the case is hereby dismissed”, the judge declared to the amazement of the dad. The dad’s lawyer, Hans Bekman, had tried to argue that the boy had been “programmed” to give unflattering answers to key legal questions but the court rejected the argument.
A request by the lawyer that the boy be subjected to psychiatric examination before the trial was also rejected by the court on grounds that the boy was not the accused while he had not shown any signs of mental illness. According to the prosecutor, “the boy had not committed any crime that could warrant a psychiatric examination”.
A dozen Kenyan sympathizers who had been mobilized by the dad, had packed the court room believing that their presence would emphasize their distaste for the relationship and probably influence the Judge to rule in favour of the dad so that the young lad could be transferred to a rehabilitation centre to be treated for sexual addiction as per the Swedish law.
Introduction to sex
Apart from the ruling, which did not please the dad, some interesting details also emerged during the hearing of the case.
As the case proceeded, it emerged that the Swedish woman was previously the girlfriend of the boy’s dad before their relationship “hit the rocks” forcing the couple into a bitter split which left both of them thirsting for revenge. It is during this relationship that the Kenyan flew his son to Sweden to start a new life with his new Swedish wife.
At the time the couple fell in love after a bump-into in a pub in Stockholm, the dad was in the process of “making mapeps” with another Kenyan woman who air-lifted him from Kenya under a serious matrimonial undertaking which later collapsed before he could get his mapeps. It is the Swedish woman who later helped the Kenyan to complete the mapepe process although the relationship never worked out on a long-term.
After about two years cohabiting with his jungu woman, and after his mapeps were secured, the couple’s relationship began to wither because the guy suddenly began to assume the behaviour of a typical Kenyan hubby who is the head of the house, the think tank, the bread winner, the decision-maker, the consultant, the man of the house, the dictator, the King in the palace, the all-powerful, the protector, the know-it all and what have you! The Swedish woman could not just take it.
As the relationship entered into dark periods, the straw that broke the camel’s back was the woman’s moratorium on the hubby’s alcohol consumption. Throughout the week, he was to remain sober until Friday evenings so that he could concentrate on studying Swedish as a way of getting a job that would increase the family’s income. According to the storo, the Kenyan dude had not graduated from basic Swedish two years after he started the course due to too much consumption of vinywaji.
Unfortunately, the hubby failed to adopt the “tea Toller” lifestyle that was suddenly being imposed on him so he quit the relationship. When the big split came, the dude moved out to stay with a friend as he tried to fix a new abode where he could start a new life with his son who was, by then, 15 years old. In the meantime, the couple agreed that the son would live with the ex until the dad fixed a house for the son to follow.
Despite the bitter split, the woman appeared very sympathetic to the boy, a posture which the dad thought, was normal under the difficult circumstances. It was after the boy was left in the woman’s care that the situation began to change dramatically. The woman apparently became interested in the boy and started inviting him to sleep on her bed at night. One move then led to another.
According to the dad, the woman began to arouse his son sexually by allegedly massaging him at every opportunity. Next, the game is said to have moved to pornographic film treats which opened the way for the woman to begin hardening the boy by allegedly playing with his equipment. The dad told KSB that the “introduction to sex” process then moved to blow jobs and that before the boy could understand the dynamics of the muscular rhythms that were increasingly becoming very exciting, he began to experience sweet “fire emissions” that eventually ended with his first exploration of the deep depths of the woman’s holy shrine as his fingers remained trapped on the woman’s titis. By the time the dad became suspicious, it was too late because the boy’s virginity had long been broken as he became addicted to “mo faya”.
Legal custody
Although the dad maintained regular contacts with his boy through the phone and occasional meetings as he searched for a house, he became suspicious when the boy began to resist moving from his white step mom’s apartment soon after the dad acquired a house in Rågsved. More interesting was the fact that the boy had a new iphone, latest play station, expensive teenie clothes, a mountain bike, Nike shoes and other expensive stuff, goodies that the dad knew, his ex must have been straining to purchase because of previous economic difficulties that even threatened their relationship.
One day, the dad was informed by a Kenyan friend that he saw his son kissing an elderly woman just before they entered into a movie theatre in town where a teenie movie was showing. That was after another contact had alerted the dad that he had seen the “odd couple” holding hands and staring at each other romantically in a coffee shop in Stockholm.
The dad hurriedly arranged a meeting with the boy but when he confronted him with the issue, the boy denied the allegations although from his body language, the dad could deduce that he was hiding something from him. That evening, the dad took the boy home but the following day, the boy escaped back to his sweet-heart. It is at this point that a war broke-out between the dad and his ex.
The woman later told her ex point blank that the lad had fallen in love with her and it is at this point that the dad reported the matter to police. Although the dad lost the case, he intends to appeal on grounds that he is the biological father of the kid and that the woman is simply exploiting his son sexually.
The dad’s lawyer tried to argue that the case ought to be decided in favour of his client because the woman had misused her privilege as a care-taker to exploit the boy sexually but this argument was dismissed.
According to the prosecutor, the woman was not legally the boy’s custodian because when the dad allegedly left the boy in the woman’s care, no legal documents were signed to give the accused woman custody of the under age child. The prosecutor told the court that the father of the child had sole custody of the child and that the court viewed the boy as a guest in the woman’s house. The court dismissed the argument because under Swedish law, “a guest is not prohibited from falling in love with the host”.
The dad’s lawyer had also tried to argue that under African customs and traditions, a boy can not engage in sexual intercourse with his father’s former girlfriend because of reasons of morality. However, the court ruled that African customs, traditions and beliefs were not recognized under Swedish law and that for this reason, the court could not consider such arguments. The dad is in the process of lodging an appeal.

The dad of the teenie is wasting his time appealing the ruling because without fresh evidence, he will lose again. The age of consent in Sweden is 15 years for males and females as long as it is consensual. It does not matter then that sex occurs between a 15-year old and a 100-year old partner.
Kenyan parents should be prepared for more future morality disasters as other “predators” will be using this example to reach our sons and daughters for “sexual exploitation.” To the teenie’s dad, “Welcome to Sweden, where sexual morality/ethics is defined differently from our Kenyan standards.”

It seems I struck some sensitive strings here with my remark about the stock photo, so let’s make things clear. And first of all, let’s turn down the level of hostility a couple of notches; this is not a popularity contest.
I was actually not at all interested in the monetary and legal aspects of using stock photos. My sole interest was purely as a *reader* of KSB. I don’t like to be misled.
The article as it is written now clearly associates the woman in the picture with the article text. This is a very dangerous and non-ethical approach. Any good journalist and publisher of news would know better to include a footnote stating in plain text “The woman on the picture as nothing to do with the article”. Even a sleazy evening paper such as Aftonbladet knows to do this (being a newspaper, they would indeed get sued if they didn’t). Just as the woman the article is all about does not want to appear with her photo, I am sure that for the very same reasons, the woman on the stock photo does not want to be associated with this article either. The model is a real person, and deserves to be treated with the same respect as any other person.
Now imagine if an upset reader actually meets the woman who is depicted in the stock photos. Maybe she will take the heat for the other woman’s actions, just because KSB mislead the readers. Imagine if she is beat up by some upset readers. It is a very very dangerous thing to depict other persons with sensitive matters, without clearly stating the case. So, in the future, I hope KSB strive to aim a little higher, and keeping this in mind. After all, it’s just so easy to do, that it would be stupid not to.

Your basic assumption is that all stock photos from all stock agencies have the same license text which applies to all media or persons purchasing these photos. I can see where you are coming from – google – and this is why you seem to be confused over this issue.

As for the issue presented by the article itself, I agree that it does not seem a sound relationship, not so much because of the age difference (which in itself can be challenging over time if this is gonna be a lasting relationship over time), but mostly because of the low age of the boy. However, I see little chance of dealing with it in court… I can really feel the frustration by the father.
As for KSB I hope they still will reconsider how stock photos are used in sensitive stories like this. A tiny weeny bit of text to add more clarity makes a world of a difference.

Well Sheri, I am truly sorry if I am taking away attention from the issue at hand. However, that is not an evil plot from a devilish master plan of mine, as you seem to suggest. There’s really a much simpler reason for it – the issue of moral and ethics itself, in all aspects. The woman on the photo does not deserve to be associated with the Swedish bitch in the article. But most people here, including yourself, seem to enjoy throwing flames at me, instead of discussing the issue at hand. So really you are all participating in diverting attention else yourself in what is already “a beaten dead horse”.

KSB: Thanks Maneno. Roger refuses to acknowledge stock photo agreements as the basis of usage within the context in which he is raising his criticism. Instead, he is clinging on the “morality” aspect in relation to context because he knows that if he examines the agreements, he will lose the argument. For him, “morality” and a twisted understanding of ethics to fit into his mind frame is the beginning and the end of the story.
Roger: Osewe normally distinguishes between photos for illustration (stock photos), vs. photos for real life people which bear their names. A simple check in KSB Archives would have saved you from the barrage of flogging you claimed. It could have been illegal, immoral and unethical if Osewe used stock photos for financial gains.

KSB continues to refuse to recognize the difference between law and ethics, by clinging to the contract and its juridical interpretation. Just like the boy in this story is the using the law to fight his father’s arguments.
People here are continuing to ignore the article’s topic, it seems I am more interesting. And monetary issues are seemingly much more important, than ethical issues?
Let me jump head first into the fray arms waving. Commentators seem to be confusing issues and the lines are blurred with tunnel vision in some quarters. The issues are as I understand as follows:
1. Is it right or wrong to use a picture of someone that has nothing to do with the article at all and not state so using some sort of caption or disclaimer, as is the ethical and accepted the practice?
2. Is it morally wrong for a woman to cohabit and copulate with a person of the opposite sex who is more than half her age?
3. Would the moral implications and outrage displayed here be different if the “aged” partner was a man or had a different racial background?
4. Should living a lifestyle considered culturally and morally repugnant in some communities mean blanket condemnation for those that do not acquiescent to the same values?
5. What is, and who determines, culturally and morally acceptable behavior, especially in a multiethnic and culturally diversified society?
6. How does the dispensing of the law of the land reflect culturally and morally acceptable behavior in a multiethnic and culturally diversified society?
Roger N comments have largely been all about issue nr.1, but the majority of replies have covered issues nr.2 – 6. As noted by mikono mikono, KSB replies to Roger’s question dealt with legal and monetary semantics while avoiding responding to his concerns. All the haranguing and name calling could have been bypassed by simply acknowledging Roger’s observation and availing a civil reply thereto. It is typical of us Kenyans to avoid the issue on hand and debate most hatefully and passionately about aspects of the subject matter that haven’t been raised. The debate then spirals out of control with personal attacks and insults that have little or no bearing to what is being discussed. Often bigoted remarks about tribe, race or ethnicity are favorites. Unfortunately this is becoming the norm on Kenyan blogs and a reflection of the caliber of individual sitting behind the computer screen. People taht are bigoted and narrow minded, that consider the slightest afront to their opinion as a call to arms. Kenyans are excelling at the art of making a spectacle of themselves in the public domain of the Internet on a daily basis and it is quite amusing to behold, if it weren’t so pathetic.

Swedish girls: the new sex tourists

In a new twist on the international sex trade, young Swedish women have started travelling abroad to take foreign lovers, paying them for sex, reported Expressen on Sunday.
Women in their late twenties travel to countries such as Ecuador, where they meet young men who depend on them for financial support in exchange for “endless fun and frolics with no strings attached”.
29 year old Veronica had a 23 year old lover from Ecuador called Emilio, although she hadn’t intended to have a so-called “gringuero” when she went travelling.
“It just happened, and when I got there I found it was almost strange if you didn’t have a younger lover”, said Veronika.
Women that have “gringueros” are mainly from America, Switzerland, Germany, England, Norway, Finland and Sweden – and it’s not cheap. 27 year old Anna told Expressen that she paid 7000 crowns to keep her lover, Javier, who she met in a small village in Peru.
He promised to keep her company during her travels in South America, on condition that she paid his way.
“Javier told me he could be anything I wanted him to be because I was his Queen”, said Anna to Expressen.
Most of the women admitted they were aware of the “power” they had over their lovers. But they also believe there is nothing wrong with the whole experience.
“These guys are just ordinary beach flirts who looking for sex – but who are bought and offered more stuff than an average bloke”, said Anna. She doesn’t believe it can be compared to men who buy sex from women, she said.

Osewe, I like the way you deal with your critics. You test their intellect and if it doesn’t add up, you withdraw, leaving others to chip in. I think Roger is a serious person although I also think that he is biased. He hasn’t condemned the immorality of the Swedish woman although he dismissed African culture as being inconsequential before the Swedish law. He cries about the ethical aspects of a stock photo on sale but fails to say anything about the ethical dilemma of the Swedish woman’s sexual exploits with an underage kid. One can alsmost see that he is trying to “protect” the woman. His failure to accept the legality of the usage of the stock photo was also surprising because assuming that he is Swedish, he ought to know better that in Sweden, the system is based on what is written down on paper, not moral considerations.
KSB: That was a very structured point of view. I do like engaging my critics. I think that I have to be available to be challenged on what I write about although sometimes I get bored when I realize that some critics just want to play. Swedish Man In Sexual Exploitation Of Kenyan Women
Kenyans and friends of Kenya have raised the alarm regarding a white Swedish man who has become notorious for exploiting Kenyan women sexually before dumping them. The story was blown by a sympathetic West African woman who is worried that if the sexual adventures of the man are not exposed, the Kenyan and African community in Stockholm might end up with another “Juliet Kavinga case” who was allegedly murdered by a Swedish national. When the case came to court, the Swede was released due to “lack of evidence”.
According to information gathered by KSB, the Swede lives in Tumba and so far, he has sexually exploited a total of 12 women whom he subsequently dumped. His latest exploits are 2 Kenyan women whom he dumped after making them pregnant. It is like he is on some kinda revenge mission and his main tools are young East African women.
“The guy has a passion for East African women especially Kenyans. He has so far used and dumped several Kenyans while at the moment, he is with a Tanzanian lady”, a West African source who sounded very upset told KSB.
Before he moved to Tumba, the Swede was living in Sollentuna. The Kenyan ladies who have fallen victim to the man’s exploits were all dumped after being ballooned. One girl who was identified has a two year old baby while another one was dumped with a baby just a few months old before the predator hooked his latest toy – the Tanzanian lady.
“The problem is that the ladies have to obey the man because they want to stay in Sweden”, a source who is a friend to one of the victims told KSB. “Even if he wants his ass licked after a visit to the toilet, it has to be done otherwise he threatens with deportation”, added the source.
The Swede is divorced from a Swedish woman with whom he had three children before shifting to specialize in African ladies. Although he is 47 years old, he loves girls between 20 and 25 years. A KSB source said that he mainly uses the Internet to hook the girls before converting them into sexual slaves. He knows that the girls he likes would like to settle in Sweden so he consciously uses the element of “Residence Permit” to tie them up into a life of obedience, loyalty, slavery and sexual terror.
Once he gets his catch, he uses the psychological fear of deportation to ensure that the girls are kept in check. Stuck between the prospect of “good life” in Sweden and deportation to Africa, the girls normally give in to “anything” he says. They live lives of isolation and since they have no contacts, they normally have no options.
One girl could be tied to him for a minimum of two years (time it takes for Swedish authorities to issue Permanent Residence Permits also known as PUT). For some unknown reasons, the Swede likes making his victims pregnant before going around talking about his “powers” with other Swedish men. He likes describing how he makes love to the girls and how they submit to his whims during coitus. Within his personal circles, he carries himself as the “Champion of African ladies”.
“This is unacceptable and I hope that this case will soon be taken up by the Swedish authorities”, a source told KSB. The source said that she has already called the Immigration authorities to alert them about what was going on but that the authorities only promised to “investigate”.
“Now, he has taken an innocent Tanzanian lady who is going through hell”, she said in anger.
A strange aspect of the man’s behavior is that after making a girl pregnant, he always insists on a DNA test even if he knows that the girl involved has been literally caged in his house for months with him doing the pumping.
He locks his women in the house 24/7 because he fears that in case they come into contact with others, his unacceptable behavior could be exposed or the girls might be made cleaver by other people. He mainly fears that the girls might take contact with organizations dealing with women’s rights in Sweden and cause him to lose control of the women including inculcation of fear through threats of deportation.

Mikono and Clearhead seem to be the only commentators that realize what Roger is actually writing about, while all the rest have made it an issue of racial immorality and are essentially defending KSB, and in extension Osewe, against a perceived attack from Roger. Roger did not engage KSB on the moral merits of the characters in question, but his was an observation on the use of the stock photographs without a disclaimer, which he says is in his opinion dishonest and unethical. How then this translates to his “protecting” the Swedish woman and, for example, statements from applepie’s purporting he has “dismissed African culture as being inconsequential before the Swedish law” are just quite baffling. Does his statement “The juridical system and the law is a framework for dealing with juridical matters – not moral matters.” translate to his dismissal of African culture? To quote Osewe, “it seems as though some readers don’t just get it.” when it comes to what Roger is arguing about. He clearly states that “to fight moral issues in court is a futile battle.” as his only contribution to the merits or demerits of morality in the case.
Understanding what is written, and even spoken, is as not a skill that should be taken for granted going by the comments directed at Roger for his questioning the use of stock photos on KSB. To illustrate what I mean; If I write an article on the décor in Stockholm’s nightclubs, commentators may begin a debate about prostitution. The two may be related, depending on one’s reasoning, but that is NOT what the article in question is about. It would be then bewildering to be accused of aiding and abetting prostitution, even defending its practice. Pretty much a “matter of common sense” isn’t it? I can only surmise that it is something many of the commentators here seem to be in dire need of. Thereafter can one be able to make the distinction between what is morally and or ethically acceptable. The power to reason objectively separates man from the other animals, and it is demeaning to see a group of people stampeding in one direction like cattle being driving to the precipice of thought because just because one identifies with a certain cliché or just because it is considered politically correct, or just for conformities sake.
Hatari, I think Osewe knows that he is in the blogsphere which is actually unchattered waters. Roger’s observation is relevant but is much applicable in traditional media. For KSB, the most important thing is whether an agreement of a stock photo does not include a disclaimer because then, KSB would be sued. Roger’s problem is that KSB leaves it to the reader to deduce that a stock photo is in use. I have always known that KSB uses stock photos because Swedish law does not allow for publication or identification of court subjects. Secondly, some stories are usually so sensitive that even if they are not sourced from court, one can usually detect that there is no way the photos could have been provided by the newsmaker. I do think that Africans have undergone too much racism at the hands of white people such that any Roger who comes up with contrary views risk collective attack by black peple. In this case, Roger is simply seen as another white man defending a white bitch defiling a black kid and using the excuse of a stock photo to attack an African blog which is seen to be one of the most consistent. I think that both Roger and Osewe have a point but both of them are not being understood.
O.Hatari: The same common sense would have helped you to understand that most of those commentators you demean reacted both on Roger’s juridical opinion on the “43-year old Swedish bitch”, plus what he condemned as unethical about the usage of that particular stock photo by Osewe.
However, Roger never acknowledged Osewe’s input on how he used the stock photo. When he was offered the terms and conditions, he kept emphasizing on ethics. When challenged to prove within the context, he had nothing to bring forth. He then claimed Trudy was a racist, yet when challenged, he could not prove it either. Sheri then dug into KSB archives to show instances where Osewe had differentiated, through captions, stock photos and a real life photos. A blog doesn’t necessarily have to follow the conventional medium’s mode of reporting, so you can use all the adjectives available to box in the said commentators, but it won’t change a thing.
@Mwalimu: Roger’s observation is relevant even in regard to the use of stock photos on blogs. A simple answer would have put Roger’s concerns to rest, but the arrogant and rude replies were not necessary. Roger’s concern was not that KSB leaves it to the reader to deduce that a stock photo is in use, but that the implication given that the person/persons in the stock photos is somehow connected to the story which a disclaimer would readily remedy. See the distinction? The issue of whether Africans have suffered racism is another debate and no excuse for the so called attacks, unless we want to use objections to Roger’s concern as a smokescreen to chastise him for the ills perpetuated by people of the Caucasian persuasion. That would be really undignified or simply put, cheap. Moreover it is human to err, neither Roger, KSB, you nor I are infallible and should be open to corrective advice if warranted.
@Wandia: I seem to have missed Roger’s juridical opinion in regard to the Swedish woman in the story. His statement was that morality is not necessarily the determining factor judicial matters and as such expecting favorable outcomes in a court of law based solely on one’s perception of morality is futile. Nothing more, nothing less. Unfortunately this has somehow been interpreted as support for the woman by most of the commentators. I quoted KSB on the use of common sense since if Roger hasn’t explicitly come out in defense of this woman, why is this the theme of most replies? By the way, Roger has met all the challenges thrown at him convincingly and has not derailed from the subject matter as most have. And yes, Trudy did play the racial card which was obnoxious to say the very least. I have not demeaned anyone, on the contrary, they have demean themselves with the haranguing of Roger on a subject he did not offer an opinion on. Here is the use of s stock photo by The Nation newspaper in Kenya without a disclaimer. The Nation is even worse because it inserts “File photo” to suggest that it’s their photo. The reader is left to believe that the photo reflects realities in the story. They are doing exactly what KSB is doing and getting away with it. I have found hundreds of links at the Nation’s website with “File photos” which are actually stock photos used without a disclaimer. Roger’s views on disclaimers belongs to the 20th century when the internet had not become of age. I am tempted to buy the view that either, Roger has something up his sleeve with KSB or he is just ignorant.

For the record, what is happening to the 16 yr old is tragic and not right. It is morally wrong for a 40 plus person of either sex to seduce and have a lover this age. However, it is not necessarily true that any legal system would point in the same direction as my own moral compass. This is the bitter truth. Parents especially those from different cultures than those found in the decadent West, have you work overtime to instill the necessity and respect for moral values in their children. Any lapse in this exercise could result in the kind of situation that has arisen. Personally, I would never have dared to shuck-up with a woman my mother’s age at 16 yrs, regardless of my country of resident. I am not debating if he paid for photo either. I am debating and questioning the moral and ethical aspect of misleading the readers of KSB by mixing random photos with news articles. Exactly which part of this is it that you do not understand?

The 16 year old Kenya boy has a right by legal means to stay with his 43-year old lover as long as he feels its fine.
Likewise, KSB has every right to use the stock photos according to the contractual terms.
MORAL AND ETHICS
It is highly questionable if a 16 year old boy has the judgment to make a good decision in this matter, and it is quite easily to see that the 43-year old woman is abusing her powers as an adult to mislead him. This it is morally wrong, and a sign of seriously bad judgment on her part. I would be furious myself if I was his father, mostly as to the feel of being unable to do anything about it.
Likewise, it is highly questionable to use a stock photo without stating so together with an article of sensitive matter, without stating so. This is morally wrong. I would be furious myself if I was the woman on the photo, depicting me to be a morally wrecked children snitching bitch, and also partly because I could probably not do much about it.
Is this clear cut enough to comprehend?
In the meanwhile, I have been met and judged based on the color of my skin by the African mob here, as Mwalimu thoughtfully outlines in a different wording. Trudy was just an example I guess (Nordic ego? Come on, I may have an ego as an individual, but why do you had to associate my race with your argument? The text should have read “The house and woman on the photo does not have anything to do with the article”.
And Rebiga, I already provided the links with references to articles how professional journalists are referencing stock photos, and links to journalist ethical guidelines. It is up to you if you want to read them or choose the KSB line of digging the head into the sand.
I am fully aware KSB is not an official newspaper, but to say “it is just a blog site” is not right either. The articles posted here on this blog is not just any random blog articles – they are news articles. We are walking a thin line here, folks. For most Kenyans, I’d take a bet that KSB is an important news source, quite equivalent to traditional Swedish news media in importance. With an important presence, should come an increased responsibility, which preferably should not be forced upon bloggers in general. After all, many of the agreed ethical guidelines the professional press is obeying is not actually enforced by the law either! It’s just plain good judgment.

I also don’t take sides, but will attempt to argue any case to its logical conclusion. I strongly fell that it is only appropriate went a person asks a question or expresses concerns as Roger did, he is answered courteously with due decorum without resorting to arrogance, rudeness, sarcastic innuendo, outright insults and racial slurs. Kenyans are civilized people even if others would try as hard as they do to prove otherwise. Hatari, I think the ethical guidelines at large even here in Sweden is not set by laws – instead they have through debates, public opinion and evolution lead to a framework freely agreed upon between journalists. A reason for themselves to be interested in this, is that we put trustworthiness so highly. Journalists that appear to deceive the public with cheap tricks quickly loose their face, and so the newspapers they work for. So it just has become their own interest to have a common framework between them too – otherwise the competitor even paper could sell more of one number because of a “cheap trick” to create headlines. The debate in how to balance the interest of attracting readers with great stories and headlines (short term success), vs the credibility and trustworthiness (the foundation for long term success) is an ongoing evolution. Keep on debating folks. It is about one’s personal opinion. Question is: where is the immorality or unethical usage when given examples are not accepted? OSewe’s example of terms and conditions are also not accepted.
Roger, The Nation is far much bigger than KSB and, as can be shown, it uses stock photos as depicted without a disclaimer which was your little point. You are now saying that The Nation case is “just a simple example”. Which one is big? A KSB example you gave or The Nation example? If you really think that the KSB example is bigger, then shame on you!
The Nation links (and there are more links to hammer the point home) has caught you with your pants down and what you need to do now is to rest your case and accept that this practice is not unique to KSB regardless of the moral or ethical considerations. Look at your poor sympathizer, Hatari. He has also not acknowledged the big fact of the day – that what KSB is doing is not new under the sun. He has gone silent on the Nation links.
Now that you know better, will you write to the Nation and lecture them about morals, ethics and stock photos? If you won’t, then hold your peace. Just to make the small example bigger for your eyes to see, here is a third example in which the woman in the stock photo is being depicted as a cheater on her husband. There is no disclaimer and this is not just a blog but a whole newspaper. Widen your eyes baby…

I am not the biggest supporter of KSB but from the standpoint of logic, your attacks on the blog are unwarranted. You pose as the know-it-all but then, your knowledge is limited. That is life!
Wandia, the given examples have been examined, and they showed the same kind of problematic issue. It’s just more of the same, which does not make it better.

Rger there is more flexibility in reporting within the social media compared to mainstream media. You can drum on others what you feel is right, but as long as you don’t accept the rules by WordPress and stock photo usage on blogs, then it is equal to playing the guitar to a goat.

However, Nation is a newspaper operating in Kenya, having very different views on matters than Swedish press. KSB is operating in the Swedish context of Kenyan society, and is discussing Swedes in a Swedish context. So pick your side. But all said and done, it just boils down to if you want to strive to be seen as a trustworthy and responsible news source, you should act like one.
Parallel: Do you want to be a better human being, or not? No one is forcing you. Do you want to create a better society, or not? No one is forcing you. The will power has to come from within yourself! But many people here seem only willing to do the very minimum required by law. Well, then don’t complain about 15 years having relationship with 100 year persons. And in fact, few people have actually expressed their option about that topic as well. You just don’t care, do you?
Applepie, Roger dismisses your logical response with the Nation example, because he thinks Swedish media is more superior. However, online media rules are applicable to some extent uniformly especially on stock photos. I think it is his swollen Nordic ego.

Swedish doc caught taking pics of naked kids
An Uppsala doctor is under investigation for child pornography crimes after being caught with thousands of images of naked children on his phone.
The man was caught after a concerned mother reported to police how she had seen a man snapping pictures of naked children playing at a Stockholm beach last summer, according to Upsala Nya Tidning (UNT).
When police arrived on the scene, witnesses observed the man throwing something on the ground. It turned out to be an empty packet of cigarettes containing a memory card.
Witnesses, who had observed the man, said that he had been secretly snapping the kids, and that on at least one occasion he had tried to get children’s attention with a bag of toys.
Police investigating the man were surprised to find that he is a high-ranking medical doctor from Uppsala, according to the paper.
On his phone, the officers discovered some 2,000 images of naked children playing, all between the ages of 1 and 5.
Another memory card turned out to contain a further 7,000 images of naked children, mainly from beaches around the area.
After searching through the man’s hard drives and USB memories, police discovered material that have been classed as child pornography, according to UNT.
Despite the ongoing investigation, however, the man is still working and according to UNT his workplace has not been informed of the suspicions against him.
The social services have been informed of the investigation, due to the fact that the man has children of his own.
However, the agency is not allowed to breach confidentiality and approach the man’s place of employment regardless of the fact that he will come across children in his work.
Police can choose to contact the man’s place of work, but haven’t in this case and the investigators are unwilling to speak to the paper.

Convicted paedophile faces new charges
A 35-year-old Swedish man who is currently serving prison time for sexual offences against children has been charged with new offences
The new indictment concerned four children who were aged between one and four-years-old. The abuse was filmed and took place in 2008 and 2009 in Växjö and Jönköping in central Sweden, according to the local Smålandsposten daily.
The man was working as a computer technician when he was exposed in August 2009. The man’s encrypted files presented a tough challenge for the police to crack, the newspaper reported.
The 35-year-old was previously convicted by Växjö District Court to five years in prison for the abuse of seven boys, including child rape and aggravated child pornography offences.
The police investigation continued even after the man’s conviction which led to the discovery that he was part of an international pedophile network.
Two more paedophiles have since been identified – a childminder in the Netherlands who operated his own orphanage, and a German man who was already in custody.
The new indictment related to the abuse of four children and concerns 13 sex crimes against children, eight of which constitute rape.
The indictment against the 35-year-old lso includes a case the filming of an attack together with a another man in Germany.
The man is scheduled to be eligible for parole in in December, after serving two thirds of his five-year prison sentence.

I study Media Politics at Stockholm University and I am very conversant with the type of issues that were being raised. I could have gone deeper but once the core issue was sorted, I decided to return to my study room. I will be back if necessary.
I might have missed the gist of the discussion but to me it’s about how the stock photo was used. However, if there was something unethical about it, am sure KSB would have been alerted by its provider.
Meanwhile, I condemn the Swedish bitch for misusing that teenager morally. The Swedish holier than thou attitude is a mere mirage.

Roger and his sympathizers just dismissed me and my likes. They need to be more alert. But again, some folks debated without knowing the meaning of stock photos.
Roger thought he was the big Kahuna of KSB until Osewe slapped him with the reality of NOT spamming with his bure ideas copied from other links. He has no clue that hotlinks cost money. Then he cries about censorship? Common!

Roger, there is no way you can discuss morals and ethics of journalism without understanding the terms and conditions of operations set by WordPress which hosts KSB. The blog belongs to the Social Media and not the Mainstream Media category as clearly stated in one of the comments above. Therefore, forcing Swedish journalistic ethics in the case of stock photos, just shows how ignorant you are in this area. You have used so many words which could have penned another article of more value than drawing unnecessary animosity and calling at least one commentator a racist, yet could not prove it. I hope for future comments, you will contribute more wisely after searching for the meaning of a contentious issue.

One supported Roger’s useless misinterpretation of racism and declared a fellow Kenyan racist without proof.
Osewe’s first very intelligent response on the usage of stock photos was dismissed without a better alternative as long as Thor’s descendant was opposing, simply because he was pissed off (my assumption), that the one used here was portraying a blonde.
