True reforms at the AG will only be possible after Kibaki leaves office. There are state officers who seem to wield immense power not defined under the public service code for their designations yet they always get away with it. First it was the error at the Govt Printer and no heads rolled. Now it is the AG’s office and I doubt if anything will happen to them. The more things change, the more they remain the same. Only in Kenya!

Let’s be honest. If this is true and i wait to see what the CIC chair finds out, this is the most serious crime committed by governemnt against the wishes of kenyans. This is impunity at it’s best. Imagine what these corrupt changes would mean. Devolution in my view would be meaningless and governors would basically be PC’s or DC’s whichever you want to pick. I said earlier tha Kenyans must be very careful and keen on every step the constitution is taking. This is quite unacceptable. There are those who still belive in Imperial presidency. It is unacceptable. We want the constitution the way we voted for it. Any necessary change must not be done secretly under darkness. Kenyans MUST KNOW. We are not ready to go for another 50 years of slavery under imperial presidency.

A senior manager with Radio Africa Ltd has suggested that the company’s radio presenters do not operate under the same media ethics that journalist adhere to, hours after implicitly defending a caller to Classic FM programme who said that all women were prostitutes.

The ridiculous defence of the explicit breakfast show on Classic FM came hours after the toothless Media Council of Kenya received several complaints from the public over the February, 7 discussion where the comment on prostitutes versus women was made.
The latest story came just hours after Classic FM hosted a breakfast discussion about anal sex, with supposedly married woman telling the radio that her husband was demanding anal sex.
But emotions ran high when a radio caller on a regular sex discussion on 7 February said that all women were prostitutes; married or unmarried, and that all there were after was money.
Radio Africa General Manager Martin Khafafa defended Classic FM in an interview with The Star newspaper: ”We thought it was a lively debate with callers discussing the extent of exploitation of women in Kenya.”
He also told NTV television that on-air presenters and journalists ”are two separate people. I see on-air as talent and journalists as journalists”. In theory, Khafafa was implying that journalists’ ethics do not cover presenters, who, often are hired because of their voices and boisterous characters.
”People want an opportunity to he heard, and Classic has done that. At no point have be gone overboard… we conduct our business with utmost professionalism, integrity and maintain ethics at the highest level,” Khafafa told NTV.
Following a barrage of complaints, the Media Council of Kenya warned Classic FM against strong language in the station’s breakfast show hosted by Maina Kageni. Chairman Levi Obonyo said the 7 February programme will be scrutinized by the Complaints Commission.
The Media Council f Kenya also last year warned the station over explicit sex talk in the morning.
The Code of Conduct (Ethics) for the Practice of Journalism in Kenya (Second Schedule of the Media Act 2007) says under Chapter Nine on Obscenity, Taste and Tone in Reporting that: ”In general, journalists should avoid publishing obscene, vulgar or offensive material unless such material contains a news value which is necessary in the public interest”.
