Through Dr. Njonjo’s brother, Winston Kimani Kang’ethe, the family of the late Dr. S.C Njonjo Kang’ethe would like to invite all Njonjo’s friends to the funeral service and burial ceremony which will take place on Wednesday, 14th December 2011 at 15.00 hrs.
The funeral service will be held at the North Chapel, Norra Begravningsplatsen situated at the North Cemetery. The address is Solna Kyrkväg, Grind 3 in Solna. Njonjo’s brother, Winston, has travelled from Kenya to attend the funeral.
The scheduled funeral will bring to an end the journey of a Kenyan intellectual who was one of the first Kenyans to arrive in Sweden in 1959. Dr. Njonjo is survived by two children, a son and a daughter he got with his Swedish wife whom he separated with many years ago.
Njonjo was found dead in his apartment a few weeks ago after KSB raised the alarm when his friends could not locate him. A check at his apartment revealed a growing mountain of mails from inside his door and when he failed to respond to a KSB appeal, police was alerted.
When police arrived at his apartment, they discovered his body after which the news was transmitted to relatives. Kenyans in Stockholm have lost a senior member of the community and there is no doubt that Dr. Njonjo will be missed by his friends whom he socialized with at various joints in Kenya-Stockholm.
