Analysis: Why Did “Politiskt Inkorrekt” Close Down?

The Neo-Nazi web site, Politiskt Inkorrekt (PI), has finally closed down because of credibility problems, political pressure, links to the racist Sweden Democrats and a fractured agenda that became unsellable to target audiences. The close down of PI is, no doubt, welcome news within the Swedish anti-racist camp which has been resisting the construction of dubious political platforms aimed at spreading vile racist propaganda and xenophobia against the peaceful Immigrant community in Sweden.

Initially, PI fashioned itself as an “alternative news channel” through which “politically incorrect” news deemed unpublishable in the mainstream Swedish media could find expression under the banner of free flow of information in cyberspace.

On the surface, this appeared a noble mission because the mainstream media the world over is notoriously known for blacking out sensitive news items that do not favour vested interests, be they political, economic or strategic.

Despite its seemingly well-intentioned motive, PI began to expose its racist appendages as soon as it was launched. What the site’s Administrators claimed was exceptional news was, in reality, corrupted, twisted and, sometimes, concocted perceptions of news aimed at promoting open anti-immigrant, anti-Islamic and xenophobic dispositions of PI’s racist fraternity.

Immediately after its launch, PI shamelessly linked other racist, xenophobic and anti-Islamic web sites. Under the guise of championing “politically incorrect” approaches to news and analysis, the site embarked on a systematic violation of Swedish Press laws as its Administrators posted a constant stream of personal data of individual news makers. These violations were often accompanied by malicious and, sometimes, unsubstantiated claims to strengthen the “alternative view” angle of stories.

As PI began to attract attention because of the horrific racist slurs channeled through its ill-informed commentators, a short investigative Report by Absolute Banana, revealed that the site and its bank accounts were directly connected to Kent Ekeroth, an MP of the Sweden Democrats (SD), a racist Party which won 20 Parliamentary seats in the last general election.

Obviously, SD must have been buoyed by this huge electoral advance within the Swedish political landscape. Consequently, moves to set up PI clandestinely (through one of its MPs) to serve as a vicious anti-immigrant-anti-Islamic propaganda mouth piece may have been propelled by misplaced ambitions that such a structure could facilitate mass brainwashing of empty-headed Swedish youths who could not draw the line between pure racist propaganda and “politically incorrect” news tidings.

Considering its mega-leap into the Swedish Parliament with 20 MPs to boot; and with rising unemployment in Sweden, deteriorating living conditions, biting poverty and growing homelessness occasioned by the deepening crisis of capitalism locally and internationally, SD’s strategy with PI was multi-faceted.

Top on the agenda was the need to expand the Party’s electoral base through recruitment of culpable or freshly brainwashed minds especially among disenchanted and unemployed white Swedish youths who could easily be deceived that their poor social and economic conditions were the direct consequence of “mass immigration” policy allegedly championed by the “Swedish Left” in cahoots with a “left-leaning” mainstream media.

PI’s second agenda was to demonize Islam and to exploit any negative impacts of this demonization to raise the incongruity between mutli-culturalism allegedly represented by “islamization of society” and “pure white” Swedish culture that was allegedly being adulterated through integration.

PI’s existance threatened SD’s electoral gains in last elections
It is notable that SD’s political establishment draws its oxygen from the fictitious “White Supremacist” ideology which propagates the false notion that Africans are monkeys who should be jumping on trees instead of walking the streets of Stockholm. Given their well planned out strategy, why has PI closed down despite SD’s strategic interests it served?

Although PI did generate a huge amount of propaganda that equally attracted an impressive assembly of racist pinheads, this propaganda was increasingly informing the attentive public that SD is, in indeed, a hard-core, Neo-Nazi oriented and racist Party whose core sympathizers haboured appalling, if not, extreme right wing views on virtually every “news item” posted at the website.

Put succinctly, PI managed to rebrand SD as the Party of choice for the racist and extreme right-wing tendency in Sweden, a politically debilitating rebranding whose immediate repercussion was the gradual but guaranteed erosion of SD’s electoral support base.

This was especially so within moderate-thinking Swedes (with illusions in extreme right-wing ideas) who voted for the Party believing that SD could actually mutate into an acceptable and viable political alternative after years of painful “sanitization” by the leadership of the Party’s “problematic image” as a racist Party.

This image-cleansing operation was aimed at according the Party a more acceptable and humane outlook even if the Party retained its racist policies rooted in the urgency of expelling immigrants out of Sweden as a solution to the country’s economic crisis. The partial success of this sanitization project eventually paid off with 20 MPs and PI had to close down because its direct link with SD through Ekeroth was threatening the future of the biggest electoral gain of the extreme right in Swedish history.

At a time when the Oslo bomber, Anders Behring Breivik (ABB) had just murdered innocent youths while under the influence of extreme right wing ideology, the continued existence of PI was the equivalent of SD adding salt to a festering wound and under the circumstances, PI had to give room for the sake of SD’s long-term political survival. The departure of PI is therefore a tactical retreat by the Neo-Nazis after they made mistakes.

In fact, the Oslo bombing scared the Swedes who may have been gravitating politically towards the extreme right by exposing them to real possibilities of “individual terror attacks” in Sweden masterminded by dunderheads ready to commit murder, blow up buildings and disrupt the system in the name of advancing objectives of right wing fanatics. With its connection to PI, a brainwashing tool, SD was risking being seen by “moderate” supporters as a breeding ground that could hatch another Anders Behring whose action was motivated by anti multi-culturalist inclinations and xenophobia.

Another problem was that PI was overtly violating Swedish Press laws by publishing personal data of individuals as the site’s Administrators weaved a plethora of unsubstantiated claims under the guise of disseminating “alternative news”. Indeed, KSB did raise the alarm when personal data of Nyambu, a Kenyan mother who murdered her two children, were sprinkled at the site with abandon.

After Kent Ekeroth was identified as the mastermind behind the site, the implication was that SD, a Party in Parliament, was breaking the law regardless of the personal circumstances of Ekeroth in relation to the website. Instead of Ekeroth quiting his position, it is PI that appears to have been sacrificed.

Swedes and immigrants must unite against racism
PI’s existence was safe as long as the rag was not pulled from under the feet of its SD-linked Administrators. It is still possible that another PI will pop up online but the close down of the site is an indication that SD operates under camouflage and that regardless of the image it tries to project to the public, it remains an extreme, right wing formation with a Hitler-friendly Program that is hostile to immigrants and Islam.

Obviously, the close down of PI was facilitated by constant exposures by progressive anti-racist forces. As these forces open Champaign, and as the Neo-Nazis begin to lick their wounds while mourning the loss of a key propaganda machine, there is need for extra vigil. If a new PI pops up online, it will, most likely, leave no open tracks linked to SD although it will be easy to characterize because it will, most likely, take an anti-immigrant-anti-Islamic and Xenophobic position especially in its politics and analysis.

Whatever the outcome, Immigrants and Swedes alike must unite in the fight against Neo-Nazi menace because human beings belong to the same human race while the concept of superiority or inferiority of races is an outdated concept that has no place in civilized and modern societies.
