
As had been promised by the Ritz Society, the Entertainment wing of the Africa Monetary Fund (AMF), the Miss Africa Crown Scandinavia contest is back after its inauguration in October last year.
For 2011 Miss Africa Crown Scandinavia championship, twenty six contestants from different African countries have signed up and on the evening of Friday, 2nd September, the candidates will appear at the Miss Africa Crown Pre-selection Party at Subtopia in Alby where the girls will give a glimpse of what revelers should expect at the Grand finals scheduled for 7th-8th October 2011 at the prestigious boat – Vikingline that will cruise from Stockholm to Åbo in Finland.
The Pre-selection comes with a tight package comprising of an all-night entertainment with live music and boogie dance that will give revelers a run for their money. If you missed last year’s pre-selection that was held at Alvik, this is the time to make amends.
At the Finals, the winner will walk away with a cash prize of 500 Euros, an air ticket to her country of origin sponsored by Ethiopian Airlines, a Louis Vuitton bag, jewelry sponsored by Mr. Bling and a bottle of Champagne. But there is more.
The winner will also get an opportunity to model for POSITIVE RUNAWAY Global catwalk, a UK based group that seeks to curb the spread of HIV/Aids by organizing catwalks across the world. The winner will also scoop the “Model for a Day” prize that comprises of: free make-up by professional make-up Artists, makeup product kit, photo shooting of up to 40 elegant pictures in digital format by professional photographers and free hairstyle by one of the top Salonists in Stockholm. The package is worth 4.800 Swedish Crowns. A big bonus will be a feature profile (cover story) in 2012 on the Sweden-based Me Magazine, a new lifestyle magazine of Afro-Scandinavians.
Apart from the second and third prizes, other prizes that will be up for grabs are: Miss Bling, Miss Photogenic, Miss elegant, Miss Heritage and Miss Diligence.
Judges at the event will be: Miss Justina Mutale, Founder & CEO of Perryfield Promotions, an award-winning International PR, Media, Business Intelligence and Event Management Consultancy firm incorporated in England and Wales; Mr. Shaul Moalem, Make-Up Artist and Director of the Make Up Institute in Stockholm; Mrs. Brawer Madina an English school teacher who knows a lot about the world of pageant and modeling; Juliet Magenda, Founder of Me Magazin and Mbova N. Lillian, an accomplished diplomat who has worked in many diplomatic Kenyan missions abroad and currently employed at the Tanzanian Embassy. Lillian, who was one of the top Judges at last year’s Miss Africa Crown, has a unique eye for style and believes in judging nothing by appearance. She is currently pursuing International Relations at Stockholm University.
