  1. Kenyans must be very careful with electing anybody because he or she has more money because they got the money in the way they know themselves, whether they killed someone to get that money or not. Those people with much money from nowhere does not care what to say or do.Wananchi nilazima wachunguze mtu kabula hawajapiga gura.It is up to the electorates to make sure the person they elect to represent them is normal in thinking.Otherwise they will elect a madman or woman to lead them with blood in his hands.Martha Karua has seen something fishy somewhere from her member. Finally Sonko Mbuvi is not a Politician in any way.If you connect the drugs and behavior you can get the answer yourself. That is the MP of Makadara in the City.

  2. This is the hallmark of absurdity. Sonko the clown reigns supreme,he is all over the city treating residents to new antics everyday. The Kenyan media has also been sucked into this absurdity. They’d better engage in constructive tasks such as educating and informing the masses on issues that can help us move forward as a country. But unfortunately we seem to be in for more of Sonko’s theatrics coz that is what the Kenyan media outlets fancy. The most worrying thing however is that the youth around Sonko apparently approve of his wierd behaviour and this seemingly epitomizes the generational change in leadership that has become the song of some politicians aspiring to lead Kenya. Sonko is a reflection of the hangers on around him and if they are many in kenya then i am afraid we will have more young jokers joining Sonko to take the drama to another level. I am not spoiling for a fight but if the truth be told, these are people not to be entrusted with positions of leadership to formulate growth enhancing policies. The not so clean advocates of generational leadership change who want us to live with this come next year are taking us for a ride. They are not selling any policies to the electorate, all they are telling us is how they scheme to attain power through ethnicization of politics. It smacks of business as usual and expect nothing from this bitter lot of young men.

  3. Makadara Member of parliament Gidion Mbuvi alias Sonko was at the dock to answer to charges of malicious damage to Nairobi City Council property.

It is alleged that on Monday this week along Kimanthi street, he destroyed a clamp belonging to the council after he found his car clamped for double packing.

Sonko also faces another count of stealing the clamp valued at 10,000 shillings.

The MP appeared before Chief Magistrate, Gilbert Mutembei where he pleaded not guilty and was released on cash bail of 10,000 shillings pending the hearing on 15th of September this year.

Meanwhile, the High Court will rule on Gatundu North election petition on 26th August of this year.

In the petition, Bernard Chege is challenging the election of area MP Clement Waibara arguing that he is illiterate and does not qualify for the position.

The petitioner, Chege wants the court to nullify Waibara’s election on grounds that the Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC) allegedly cleared him to contest for the position knowing he did not pass the English and Kiswahili proficient test.

However in his submissions, Waibara wants the petition dismissed on grounds that Chege did not take the stand to give evidence opting instead to call several witnesses.

He argues that the allegations of bribery and violence during the election campaigns were untrue.

Meanwhile, KANU organizing secretary Justin Muturi through an affidavit has argued that he is not a state officer and should not therefore be barred from holding any party office as purported.

Nick Salat in a petition filled in the high court wants Justin muturi and Uhuru Kenyatta barred from calling for Kanu national party recruitment exercise.

GICHUGU MP Martha Karua yesterday hit out at her Makadara counterpart Gideon Mbuvi, over his quest for presidency, saying the youthful leader is not her match. Speaking in Homa Bay town during a week-long tour in Nyanza to build support for her party, Karua said it was Sonko’s democratic right to seek presidency through any other party. “I know he has a right to contest in our party but we cannot be politically compared. I am way above him and he should realise that when he tries to contest with me” said Karua.

The former Justice minister said her party is democratic and will accept everyone’s interest. She added that Sonko has a democratic right to vie for presidency. “I know he can join any party if he wants but we cannot block others just because they act differently from us. Narc Kenya is a party that is democratic and observes the rule of law,” added Martha.

The Narc-Kenya leader, who has declared her interest in presidency next year, said the party was in a massive recruitment drive across the country . “The constitution only allows a person to be a member of one party and those thinking that they will be members in many parties are in for a rude shock,” she said.

At the same time, the MP reiterated her support to the embattled Constitution Implementation Commission saying the fiasco in their salaries is a ploy by some forces in government to block the implementation of the new law. The Gichugu MP has been traversing the province since Monday to strengthen and create Narc Kenya constituency branch offices. She was accompanied by Narc-Kenya parliamentary aspirant Brian Weke.

  9. Moles in international security circles reportedly have information that the alleged mastermind of the Rwanda genocide Felicien Kabuga is still hiding out in Kenya . They have hinted that Kabuga continues to enjoy the protection of the family of a senior politician and other former government officers. They say the machetes that the man allegedly used to arm the Hutu people were sourced from a company owned by the senior politician. Kabuga is also reported to have been living in a hotel in the Rift Valley in early January.

MAKADARA MP Gideon Mbuvi accused the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Mombasa yesterday for failing to withdraw criminal charges against him. Through his lawyer Jared Magolo, Mbuvi, who is facing a charge of fraudulently obtaining Sh1 million from a business woman, on grounds that he was in a place to sell her a plot, said issues raised by the police to further delay the case, could not hold water.

Mbuvi said the CID failed to withdraw the case despite the Deputy Assistant Public Prosecutor, Jacob Ondari having written a letter advising on the same. But the court heard that the suit could not be withdrawn as the prosecutor and the police still bring new issues, claiming they needed more time for proper procedure of suit withdrawal. The police prosecution said those seeking to drop charges have to abide by Section 87.

Magolo at the same time asked the court to direct the prosecution to make an official application to withdraw the case, but Senior Resident Magistrate (SRM) Timothy Ole Tanchu ruled that the prosecution was aware of how to go about it. The MP has asked the Mombasa court to withdraw the charges, months after a suspect in another fraud case withdrew claims that Mbuvi was the mastermind behind fraud land deals involving millions of shillings.

It is alleged that on November 13 2009, at Martin Tindi and Company Advocates office, in Mombasa, Mbuvi jointly with others not before court and with intent to defraud, obtained Sh1,050,000 from Najma Ali ahmed, pretending he was in a place to sell her a plot. Three months ago, a businessman was charged with corruptly offering a total of Sh90,000 bribe to two men, in order for them to implicate Mbuvi in a criminal case.

James Buyu Luta, alias Onyango, who was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Rosemelle Mutoka denied the charges. He had been charged that on February 17 this year, at the Central Police station, he corruptly offered Sh50,000 to Rashid Tsuma Ruwa, as an inducement to influence him to implicate the legislator in a case, where he had been charged.

In the other case, Sonko, Kwale Lands Registrar, Alex Mutua, Rongai Butchery Proprietor, Michael Waweru and a Ms Imelda Kasiaka, were wanted over a Sh5 million fraud case. Their names were adversely mentioned by Ruwa Mwaruwa Kurera, a land broker who is facing four counts of forgery, uttering a false document and obtaining money by false pretence, after he gave a confession over the deal. Kurera however withdrew a written confession read in court.

In Kurera’s statement, he had admitted having received the money banked in his Equity account, but only ended up taking a total of Sh350,000 in two instances, and wants his accomplices to pay the rest. Kurera is accused of forging a certificate of lease for a plot in Kwale, and purported it was signed by the Kwale District Land Registrar on March 2, 1999.

The accused is also charged with making a false lease for the plot in Kwale/Diani beach, purporting it was genuine and further, on 14 July 2010, at Gakuo and Kibara Advocates in Mombasa, he uttered the forged lease. The court heard that between April 17 and 20 last year, he obtained Sh5 million from Jane Wanjiku Githere, pretending he was the owner of the plot. The case will now be mentioned on August 12 this year.

Makadara MP Mike ‘Sonko’ Mbuvi was on Wednesday arrested for assaulting a police officer during a fracas at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi.

The MP is being held at the JKIA Police Station and is expected to appear in court later in the day.

The MP is alleged to have hit a police officer on Monday night after he was barred from the airport’s departure lounge when he went to see off Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta.

Mr Kenyatta was departing for the International Criminal Court (ICC) at The Hague where a case in which he is charged with crimes against humanity is coming up for hearing. (READ: Muthaura, Ali and Uhuru to take the stand at ICC).

Reports indicate that police had to stake out at Continental House until the wee hours of Wednesday before they pounced on the MP as he exited the block that houses MPs’ offices. Continental House is part of parliament in whose grounds MPs are protected from arrest.

Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere said: “Definitely action will be taken. Once the investigators are through with the file he will be taken to court. We are treating it as an assault case, just like any other.”.
