The family of Miss Grace Kiburi would like to thank everybody who attended her graduation Party that was held in Skarpnäck last Saturday, June 4th. Kenyans and friends from all walks of life thronged the hall in Skarpnäck to share the wonderful moments following Grace’s graduation. Speeches of encouragement and congratulatory notes were delivered by the guests as they were treated to a luscious and unforgettable meal with plenty of drinks. The ocassion was graced by the presence of several Kenyan luminaries including Mrs Lisah Muraya, the Kenya gospel sensation who is also candidating at the Africa Gospel Awards.
Mr. Laban Mberi, who was the Master of Ceremony, led the guests through the paces as the Party gathered steam. After speeches, the ecstatic guests broke loose in song and dance, jamming the floor in celebration. Behind the scenes, DJ David and Rapper JJ provided back-up through the huge speakers that were strategically placed to boom in the direction of the dancers as if to charge their systems with Kenyan music.
The guests did not disappoint. The youth openly engaged their latest dance moves as wazee wa kazi tried desperately to catch up with the times. It was easy to notice that Sam Pippo had “destroyed a lot of calendars” over time because they were either too heavy to shake their beefs or too inflexible to make that typical spin on one leg. When the DJ’s noticed that the wazees were lagging far too behind, “Mugithi” was quickly fixed, not to rescue the situation but to allow for a cooling off period. The Mugithi train soon started snaking across the floor and the move worked because suddenly, the playing ground seem to have been leveled. As long as you could walk, you could also dance mugithi and the most “complicated manoeuvre” you needed to pull was to hold (or hang) on someone’s shaoulder. It was all smiles because everybody could pull that without much effort!
Speaking to KSB, Margarette, the graduate’s mother, said that the family was humbled by the huge support from Kenyans and friends alike. “We have no words to express our gratitude and may God bless all those who attended”, she said.
The “season of the graduates” is still on and on Saturday, all roads will be leading to Spånga where a bash is awaiting the graduation of Vivian Atieno, another Kenyan who has just done it! KSB takes this opportunity to congratulate all Kenyan youth “taking their student” this year. It is a wonderful season that deserves real celebration.
