If you may have forgotten, the two hour Jamhuri day spree is today while the bash is on Friday and Sato. The reception is the only opportunity you get to “eat the tax money”. Obviously, our country has gone through great changes over the past few months with the promulgation of a new constitution in the motherland being the most remarkable.
However, Kenya is still “a swamp of corruption” while millions of our people cannot still put food on the table. Treatable diseases continue to kill thousands of Kenyans on a routine basis due to poor medical services. Unemployment among the youth has reached unmanageable levels while impunity is the order of the day. Political assassinations have persisted even during these days of a Coalition government managed by the two Principles. Land grabbing by the rich does not need further emphasis.
Back in Stockholm, we only see our Ambassador, Purity Muhindi, during national celebrations. The Embassy has refused to adjust to “Coalition politics” due to the failure of the government to post a “Coalition Ambassador” in Stockholm.
Regardless of the numerous problems created by politicians, and despite the general stagnation of our country, we are once again celebrating the anniversary of our independence. As Kenyans and friends alike will be wining and dining at the Jamhuri reception, it will perhaps be opportune if Wananchi pause to ask themselves what (in concrete terms) deserves to be celebrated. Nevertheless, Kenyans have been welcomed to the all-night Jamhuri boogies on Friday and Saturday this week!

Its so true what u write. I fail to understand leaders who drive Benzes while their subjects die of hunger and other easily treatable diseases! Lets go and eat anyway coz if we dont, they will just pocket the cash without a wink.

Yes even hia mama Purity runs in a fuel swallowing heavy Benz caring less about walala hoi. No speeches that can encourage us hia in this cold weather.only rude reception for many when they visit the embassy.she only dishes out food and drinks for 2 hours once in a long while.
