The Swedish Travel Alliance Announces Partnership With International Passenger Protection
Ability to insure against airline bankruptcy: safety and security
The Swedish Travel Alliance can now insure travel agencies to protect their passengers in case of airline bankruptcy, through an insurance contract with the British IPP (International Passenger Protection). This means that flight tickets from a travel agency within the Alliance are protected, if an airline could go bankrupt or end up in insolvency.
“During the past two years, 70 airlines have been declared bankrupt, mainly in Sweden” says Thomas Larsson, CEO of the Swedish Travel Alliance.
The IPP insurance provides cash back if a passenger gets stranded abroad, and also an alternative return ticket to Sweden, with another company. The Alliance takes care of all practical requirements at the local destination, such as rebookings to other airlines and ticket refunds, which take place immediately upon insolvency.
“Iraqi Airways Scandinavia has contracted the Swedish Travel Alliance to use this insurance on all its flights to Iraq”, says Thamer Mohammed, CEO of the Universal Travel Sweden, which is the general sales agency for Iraqi Airways in Scandinavia. Even flights from Germany and England will be guaranteed.
