I just love the way officials of Muslims for Human Rights (MUHURI) have empowered the Likoni people to question about their CDF. This social audit should be replicated nationally to inject a sense of responsibility.
KSB: True. CDF is tax money and should be monitored even if it means community Auditing.
Owing to instances of misappropriation and diversion of CDF, corruption and outright misuse of funds, Sh53.6 million has gone down the drain or is completely unaccounted for, over the last two years in Nairobi alone.
The link below presents a Social Audit Report of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF), The Local Authority Transfer Fund (LATF) and The Economic Stimulus Program (ESP) in four Nairobi
Constituencies: Langata, Kasarani, Westlands and Embakasi
This is hot stuff, Many more of this should put our country on the right track, who knows this might happen sooner than we think. Its all about awareness way to go Likoni activist and the rest, keep up the good work.
This is really positive. If only every Kenyan would understand that they have the rights and powers to dictate how their tax money is used.We ought to change our mentality and stop giving those mps all that power. They r answerable to us n not viceversa. Why do people call them Mheshimiwas for? They r all thieves and the Kenyan mwananchi have facilitated it. Wake-up folks and stand for your rights, its pains alot that most people live in utter poverty n yet Kenya is not poor.
As usual, its the MPs who misuse the CDF. The Government needs to hold them accountable.
