A Kenyan lady related to a leading member of Maendeleo ya Wanawake has called KSB to enquire how the blog site obtained information about the Maendeleo scandal. The KSB official she called was locked in a meeting but when the call was returned later, the lady did not pick up the phone. To KSB, it was very interesting that the lady had called because she is not known to be a member of Maendeleo.
Last week, KSB spoke to a top official of the group alleged to be involved in the scandal to establish why signatories had been changed illegally and she gave a long storo about the crisis. Another Kenyan lady who was recruited into the Association then converted into an illegal signatory also gave a detailed account of what happened on the day they went to withdraw cash from the account and found that it had been frozen.
The lady said that she was only given papers to sign and that at that time, she did not understand what was going on. Her story is being processed. When she learnt that the matter was now a police case, she began to panic before asking KSB for advice. We recommended that she make a statement distancing herself from the fake papers as police investigations continued.
Because of the “National interest” the storo has attracted within Kenya-Stockholm, KSB has spoken to a police officer about the case while the blog site has obtained a copy of the police statement from authorities. The charge contained in the Statement is “Fraud” and details of events are listed on the Statement. KSB has also spoken to an official of the bank to get to the bottom of the matter.
According to a bank official, signatories were changed using “some minutes” but the official refused to go into detail. The blog site has ordered a copy of the minutes to establish the anatomy of the scandal. It will be interesting to establish how the minutes were formulated, who attended the meeting and how signatories were changed illegally before cash was withdrawn. KSB is yet to get into contact with Sigtuna Kommun to dig out the details of a Project proposal that resulted in State funds being released to Maendeleo and how cash was supposed to be spent. In Sweden, the documents in question are public.
Further, KSB has spoken to a court Prosecutor who has given a perspective of how the court case is likely to develop if it comes up for hearing. According to the Prosecutor, the case is likely to continue because Tax payer’s money is involved. If the matter comes to court, the interest of the Swedish State will be to establish whether money had indeed been withdrawn from the Association’s account illegally, how such a withdrawal was effected, how bank officials were fooled, how the money was spent and whether anybody can be held to account. For the police, they are more interested in the brains behind the fraud and its level of sophistication because of the possibility of the suspects committing the same type of crime in the future.
The alleged ring-leader of the scandal has called the spouse of a top KSB apparatchik to find out why the official “is engaging in the affairs of women”. Although the scandal touches on tax payer’s money, she apparently thinks that the scandal is a gender issue which should not have been reported at KSB in the first place. This is pathetic because the caller is regarded by many Kenyans as an informed personality who should know the basic principles of Blog freedom aka Freedom of Press, the right of the public to know and public accountability.
In another twist, KSB has gathered that the group facing charges has attempted to make a second withdrawal from the account which was also blocked by the bank. According to a KSB spy-link, Maendeleo made gigantic losses at the Saturday party and with a huge debt to pay, those involved in the scandal thought that they could plead with the bank to sympathize with the situation but bank officials refused to listen, arguing that since the matter is now a police case, it has to be resolved, both by the Swedish State on the one hand and the Associations internal mechanism on the other.

It has happenned.The problem has es been self identified .In my opinin ,let us as a collectitve whole be responsible and tackle our our stupidity,more so when it is about communal responsibility.Most have attempted bur most have not achieveved ,there are those that operate in silence and do greater good.So as for the fiasco that was Märsta ,education is the simple key.

The problem with the organization is the main lady behind this scandal who thinks that she is more intelligent than the other women. She could have been smarter if she had been open by telling the members that the project proposal at Sigtuna Kommun had been successfully awarded some funds. Thereafter, she could have asked for stringent rules to account for every coin used.
However, she wanted to stage a “boardroom coup” by calling for the expulsion of a Committee member she was against. Due to her arrogance, the rest refused to play ball, so she felt going “under the table” by assigning new signatories was the only way to withdraw the cash for last week’s function.
Tough luck the tables have now turned against her because sharp as she has always portrayed herself, her actions were blocked by some of the members who froze the account with her Sigtuna money. Now she cannot pay those who performed at last week’s event.
The lady in question is known to dictate terms at Maendeleo’s meetings posing as if she is a well-to-do person while the rest are beggars. She even brags about having a string of degrees making other members feel uneducated. Now her supposed education is in question because she should have known that in Sweden, money received in the name of an organization must be public knowledge to the paid-up members.
The ring-leader must be quite daring to have attempted a second cash withdrawal yet the account is already frozen. Just shows how desperate she is bacause those who performed still need their payments. A few days after her debacle, she must not be sobbing due to the huge losses that were obvious from the beginning. It shows how myopic she is. Why did she not resolve internal issues first before jumping into another project yet knew that the plank of Committee members were not supportive of her motives?

First things first this maendelo(matharau) ya wanawake is quite a good project but as we have seen in the past Kenyan Ladies(80%) living in sweden have a rough time in their lives that they will not concentrate on a project like that.So this Lady(Headmistress) who organized this thing accept your mistake and we know you cannot give us the money back,but you have learnt that dont pick up a stone you cant carry.Live your simple life and avoid idlers who are waiting for you tomake a mistake for them to hurl nasty things at you in this forum.Even though atommy didnt come,the food was good and personaly i enjoyed,so keep the money but dont put this budden on you again,so many kenyan also have Long mouths waiting just to attack others when they make mistakes,so if you are one Kenyan who is opening his/her mouth with nasty words this is what i have for you-BURE KABISA.

The alleged Maendeleo leader uses relatives to speak on her behalf only adding fuel to the already blazing and unstoppable fire. Interestingly, this particular relative was more concerned about KSB’s source of info yet the scandal has been baking in the oven for weeks before it burst out due to Atommy’s failed trip. Nepotism will not help because the members are really pissed off!
This is how thick-brained the family is. Maendeleo is a public organization and not a Mother-Daughter business. Why were some of the relatives strategically stationed to monitor money flow at the function yet there are not paid up members in Maendeleo?
Why are some abusive comments printed on this blog. Does the moderator understands how a blog functions! Calling “Bitch” is ofensive language. As for other Africans, Degree != Street_smart. Next time people must learn to be street smart before disbanding an elected board. There are nice and easy ways to do it, but definitely not project cash.

Zakala muska i wish to inform the blogg readers that the performance we had in Märsta was a fantastic one. The public was friendly and cheerful. The organisers took good care of us during he show. We ate and drunk on the house. We got paid as the show was still going on.

I come from Uganda and i came to Maendleo ya wa Kenya function with my 12 years old daughter Joy . My daughter was fascinated by the traditinal drums and live music.
I wish the Ugandan women can get as organised as the Kenyans.
My advice to the Kenya society is that you should learn to take everything easy and solve your internal problems through meetings and discussion rather than the outbursts am seeing on this blogg, police and courts. Legalism does not build harmony in society.
Take the example from home where you recently concluded constttutional reforms without shedding blood.
