The Kenya-Stockholm Football team should, by any means, win against Guinea in the Semi-finals of the African Challenge Cup tomorrow Saturday 17th at Knutby BP in Rinkeby so if the match is not yet in your diary, cancel everything and be there at 17.00 hrs. According to KSB intelligence sources which have been following the Kenyan team, they have been training hard during the past few days and they are reportedly in very good form.
If you are a Kenya-Stockholmer, you should show solidarity by turning up to support the team. Unfortunately, I am away and my plane will be landing at 19.45 when the match shall have ended so I will miss it. But, I know Kenya damus (like myself) will be there and after the victory, fans can head to Little Nairobi to celebrate. Since the Party at Vumbi’s “Ngoma ya Kilo” ends at 1.00 hrs, the whole group can then retreat to Bagarmossen to join the Prayer meeting that has been called by Agnes whose brother has passed away back home. The Prayer meeting is expected to extend well into the morning.
From KSB intelligence gathered after watching the Guineans play several times, the key to bringing them down lies in exploiting the weaknesses in their defence by creating cracks then penetrating to shoot hard towards the goal.
Kenyan strikers could bank on “one-touch” ball contact system to disorientate the Guinean defence because their “ball-stoppers” at the defence line tend to adopt the “sweeping tactic” to stop attackers especially during lengthy dribblings towards the goal. With a “one-touch” strategy, chances of Guinean defenders bringing the Kenyans down as they approach the goal will be minimized.
Once a Kenyan striker reaches the 18m goal range, shooting direct into the goal could create opportunities that could be translated into real goals to enable the Kenyans reach the finals. The Kenyans should focus on scoring a goal as soon as possible because the Guineans are known to panic once they begin to lag behind. When the “panic streak” catches up within the team, the Kenyans could then begin to worry them by trying to maintain lengthy ball control as they look for fresh opportunities to score a new goal.
If the Kenyans can manage a 2-0 lead before the end of the first half, victory might as well be a forgone conclusion. The Guineans are likely to come out fighting, a strategy which the Kenyans could counter by adopting a defensive game interspersed with quick attack missions to try and widen the lead and to psychologically tune the Guineans to the effect that they are losing the match.
State-House Visit
An important factor that may see the Kenyans through to the finals is an organized big support from the touch-lines by a crowd of Kenyans with Vuvuzelas, Sikuti and other traditional tunes weaved by experts from the mother land. Tunes like “Sikuti, mbe mbe mbe…” could work out extremely well with Maestro Clay Onyango mobilizing Kenyans to “shake their wings” as they dangle legs in the air. Our brothers from Lake Victoria region (where Omena, Fulu, Mbuta and Obambo comes from) could come up with tunes like “Kenya biro, yawne yo” (Kenya is coming, open the road). This could be an adaptation from “Gor biro yaw ne yo” and that kinda thing. Here, Tonny Odera aka “Ean Wuod Luo” could show leadership by leading the pack thereby catching the Guinean crowd by surprise. Such actions could boost the morale of the players. If there is a possibility of wiring some Ndumbas from home, it could be a good reason to call an emergency fund raising at Continental to finance the Project because Kenyans ought to win this match using any available method.
In fact, pretty girls like Kipeps could be brought in to cheer at the touch lines and divert the attention of the Guinean players with her striking beauty to help create opportunities for the Kenyans to score. The Gueineans will think that they can catch her when the game is over and once they are thwacked, we zoom off with her in a Limo to celebrate and to give interested players an opportunity “to tune her”. Now that she is single, bachaleros in the Kenyan team could play harder to try and impress her especially by squeezing a goal at the critical hour. She could be present in the spirit of helping the Kenyans win “by any means necessary”. This is a time when the nation needs to forget about the Referendum and come together because if they win, Kenya-Stockholm community will have a chance of getting an appointment with His Excellency Prezo Kibaki and his partner, Primo Raila Odinga right at State house.
Imagine Wakenya from Stockie being met at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as heroes in a convoy of cars (under tight security) heading to State House to meet the bosses and to underline the effort Kenya-Stockholmers are making in raising the national flag abroad! The “African Challenge Cup” is a big event and if we can scoop the trophy, it will be like scooping the “World Cup” in Scandinavia and there is no reason why the team should not be given attention by our government with the mainstream media in close persuit! We could make noise in the whole continent and say that although Ghana lost the World Cup, there is solace because the Kenyans have scooped another version of it in Scandinavia.
Although Kenya-Stockholmers are not in good tune with H.E Ambassador Purity Muhindi, the situation could change if the team wins. Kenyans here could approach Her Excellency Madam Purity to lead the Kenya-Stockholm delegation to State House to “bring the trophy home”, an offer she can’t refuse because these are exactly the kinda stuff she likes – high profile functions to meet with the bosses!
Don’t be surprised if she orders a tailor made, brand new Kitenge which has never been seen before to wade off KSB attacks! There are many reasons why the Kenyans need to win this game and the team is facing a difficult task because it is carrying the expectation of the whole Nation on its shoulders. Let us all support them and later sit down to discuss what needs to be done once the cup is in the bag. It could be a good achievement for Kenya-Stockholmers this summer.
