The Kenya-Stockholm Football team was thwacked 3-2 by their Somalia counterparts in an interesting match that they should have clearly won had it not been for bad luck. The Kenyans were the first to find the back of the net to get a 1-0 lead. However, the team relaxed and this created an opportunity for the Somalis to equalize.
The Kenyans lost several scoring chances and they could have swept to victory with well over 4 goals. A Key factor was that the Somalis were playing an almost similar game as the Kenyans and this tended to deny the Kenyans the advantage of surprise.
The Somalis are very talented with good technique. They did not emerge as the underdogs. Soon, the Somalis increased their lead to 2-1 but their celebration was cut shot when the Kenyans equalized. Unfortunately, a corner kick awarded to the Somalis turned fatal when the Kenyans scored own goal thereby losing by 3-2.
The Kenyans will now meet the Tanzanians next Saturday 17th July at Rinkeby (Knutby BP). The time will be announced later. A lot of Kenyans turned up to cheer the team with Vuvuzelas and this was nice. The Kenyans have promised to get even next Sato by teaching the Tanzanians a lesson on how soccer is played. If the team loses the tournament after a very good start, Coach Clay will have to release a statement to explain to the Kenya-Stockholm public what happened.
Okoth Osewe and Makan Macharia
You did not loose due to any bad luck. That has been the trend in recent times.
Somali has beaten other Kenyan teams, including our own Harambee Stars, and the self serving Parliamentary Team as well.
Their MPs beat our MPs recently. Ours only beat people when it comes to increasing their own salaries.
So, take heart, you are just part of our own generation.
