A Kenyan national is in critical condition at a hospital in Linköping after allegedly being knifed by a colleague he is residing with. The Kenyan woke up a few days ago after going into comma for several days, time when Doctors had to operate on him to try and save his life. When KSB tracked him down at his hospital bed, he had gained consciousness and was able to speak about the incident albeit with difficulties.
The Kenyan is a refugee who arrived in the country last July after which he was taken to Flen Refugee center in the outskirts of Stockholm. According to him, he has been residing with four other refugees in the same flat and last week, a refugee from Eritrea knifed him several times in an attempt to kill him for reasons he didn’t go into.
The Kenyan told KSB that it appears as though his refugee colleagues had planned to kill him because three days before the knife attack, they stopped talking to him. The day he was knifed, he said that the other three refugees were present and a Russian refugee, who also lives in the flat, participated in the fight by boxing him as the Eritrean went on attack.
He said that he was knifed in the Stomach while he did manage to block another stab which was aimed at his heart. “I blocked it and it entered into my lungs”, he told KSB from his hospital bed.
An interesting twist is that police have no suspect neither has the knife been recovered. “The police have said that all three suspects have told different stories and they are unable to pin anybody down although it is the Eritrean who knifed me”, he said.
The attempted murder may go unpunished because there is nobody willing to testify and in the absence of a witness and a weapon, the suspects may have no case to answer. The Kenyan told KSB that he will request that he be transferred from the camp to another camp. In the meantime, he can only hope that police will make a breakthrough in the case and pin down the culprit.
