Femi Kuti, son of Afrobeat’s greatest artist, Fela Kuti, will finally be in Stockholm again! With respect for his musical heritage intact, Femi has refined as an artist during the more than twenty years he has worked and created Afrobeat with soul-jazz nuances that is entirely his own.
Femi Kuti has always gone his own way and made his own choices, especially when he signed with Motown in the early 1990’s until his breakthrough album in 2001 “Fight To Win”, where he collaborated with rappers and hip hop artists like Mos Def , Commonwealth and Funk Master James Poyser. A whole new audience caught the eye of Afrobeat.
He is like his father with strong political commitment while the family’s own club, The Shrine, is also a place that disrupts the country’s politicians and authorities. Afrobeat based on Kuti family, is, above all, a musical resistance and struggle!
The latest album, “Day by Day”, involved Blah Keziah Jones on guitar and youngest son, Made Femis also involved in all tracks. Femi continues exploring and expanding the frontiers of Afrobeat.
