Film screening: From A Whisper

In 1998, the U.S. embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam were bombed. From a Whisper is a film based on the bomb that exploded in Kenya’s capital. We follow two parallel stories, bound together, in two eras – in 1998 and ten years later. Abu was working as an investigator at the police when he found the young artist Tamani. Abu lives with her dad, but their relationship is repellent and dumb. Tamani has devoted much of his life to searching for his mother, to try and understand what happened that day, ten years ago, when she walked out of the car but didn’t come back.
The film is made by the young Kenyan director, Wanuri Kaihua who is a guest at the film festival. She will talk with the audience after the film’s screening.
