Mr. Okante, the husband of the woman who was turned back at Arlanda International Airport has surfaced to criticize Mr. Antony Adiwa and his Saanda Travel Agency for incompetence and misrepresentation of facts. As a person whose wife and daughter were treated to the indignity of being turned back at the airport, Mr. Okante said that it is his responsibility to correct the facts as allegedly misrepresented by Mr. Adiwa.
Speaking to KSB on telephone, Okante said that his wife’s trip was planned well in advance and that the question of money not having been enough because of the age of the child should not arise.
He said that problems began soon after his wife tried to confirm her ticket following information from Mr. Adiwa to the effect that his wife needed to add more cash just days before she was to travel to Kenya and after she had finalized all payments.
According to Okante, “Mr. Adiwa said that the price of the ticket had increased because there had been an abrupt increase in tax” which she needed to sort out. “It had nothing to do with the kid being overage”, he said.
On Thursday last week, his wife called Mr. Adiwa but the Agent was not taking the phone. The search for Adiwa on telephone continued last Friday but he was nowhere. The problem continued throughout the week-end, time when his wife was also left in limbo because she was scheduled to travel on Monday morning.
“My wife decided to proceed to the airport because she did not know the position”, he told KSB. Okante proceeded to say that when they were on their way to the airport, Mr. Adiwa called but never told her not to proceed to the airport. “She told him that I am on the way to the airport”.
When she failed to check-in at Arlanda because her ticket number was not in the computer system, she took contact with Adiwa who demanded 5,000 kr before the matter could be fixed. A negotiation of sorts then proceeded and in the end, her wife had to part with more cash before she could get a new ticket that enabled her to travel on Tuesday this week.
Mr. Okantes said that he was ready to take responsibility for naming both Mr. Adiwa as the Agent and his Travel agency because he could prove what he was talking about to anybody. He said that he remains very dissatisfied with the manner Mr. Adiwa handled the booking and promised to take the issue to another level if necessary. He said that it was unfortunate that Mr. Adiwa was giving a different explanation to the public when he knows what he had done.
The ticketing saga has provoked heated debate among Kenyans in Stockholm although sympathy appears to be tilting in favour of the woman. Several commentators at KSB have come up with several claims about incompetence by the agency in question although these claims have not been properly substantiated. By virtue of being in business, it is in the interest of Mr. Adiwa and his business that the tiny issues being raised be addressed as a matter of urgency to prevent the reputation of his business from getting into disrepute.
Okoth Osewe
Bravo Mr. Okante for contacting KSB about the frustration your wife faced after booking a ticket from SAANDA TRAVEL owned by Antony Adiwa. Mr. Okante’s wife is Lensa, who is a sister to Flo and Dan Aroka, among other relatives in Stockholm.
All the comments raised by various members point to the same pattern of irresponsible behavior from Adiwa. There must be something wrong with him because if he has been running this business since 2001 according to his website, why does he keep on making booking mistakes?
A commentator suggested he should try omena business because he is too incompetent as a travel agent.
As mentioned by another commentator, people used to find Adiwa quarreling on the phone or in person with various customers who were dissatisfied with his services at the former Fridemsgatan office. The problem is he is so arrogant and does not want to take responsibility but argues with them, yet he is wrong much of the time. Stella mentioned Pammy whose case I know and even now Okante’s wife, Lensa. This is wrong.
Kenyans should just be smart and avoid Adiwa who is not thankful for the business they bring him by buying tickets to Kenya.
I support Mr. Okante who has confirmed that his wife had planned her trip much earlier, so it had nothing to do with not having paid the full amount required, as alleged by Adiwa.
Adiwa fooled me 5 years ago after I had bought a ticket from him then got stranded in Nairobi. I was told that my ticket had expired and could not be used to re-enter Sweden. I was so traumatized and had to borrow money in Kenya to buy a new ticket.
I tried calling Adiwa so many times from Nairobi to solve the issue, but he never bothered to respond. As a Christian, I took it bravely and left it to God after returning to Sweden. I have never booked a ticket from him since then. That was a big lesson especially after I had saved for a long time to buy the ticket from him.
You should be refunded you money back, get interest, mstaki and be paid for injuries.
Do you understand ;
-why the mzungu will always be rich?
-Why we africans can never beat poverty or lift each other?
-why our biasharas never expand, never employs and our peoples do not buy from each other?
I once got stranded in Nairobi after getting to the airport on the day I was scheduled to travel back to Stockholm and told ati I was on stand by?! All flights were fully booked so I had to go to the airport like everyday to bahatisha finally we had to buy a new ticket and I said never again!! I always get my tickos online direct from airlines no middlemen!!! And the person responsible was this Adiwa character!
In March 2002, I bought a ticket from Antony Adiwa to Johannesburg-Nairobi and back to Stockholm in May. On the day of departure, I took a cab to Arlanda so as not to be late. However, I got a rude shock at the KLM check-in counter when I was informed that my ticket missed a significant number that all airlines require to allow a passenger to travel. Since it was not available, I could not travel whatsoever that evening. According to the check-in lady, it was impossible to board since that must have been indicated earlier by Adiwa, to authorize my flight. I was then referred to the KLM booking counter to sort it out.
I went to the counter and asked the lady managing it whether I could travel at all on that ticket. Luckily, she inserted the code and allowed me to take a morning flight the next day because it wasn’t fully booked. She clarified that it was the responsibility of the travel agent to put the code.
I was trembling with anger because I had arranged for my airport transfer in Johannesburg and had also made hotel reservations for the next afternoon. But that was not to be, because I was stuck in Arlanda with luggage and a ticket that had been fully paid for, yet Adiwa had not executed the process correctly.
I did not have a mobile phone so could not call him immediately to understand his version. Anyway, after the KLM lady had rectified the mistake, I took the cheapest means of transport back to Stockholm, still totally furious and not even remembering that I could have stored my luggage in the lockers at Arlanda. I took an SL bus then transferred to a commuter train and back to town. I then went to GIBE TRAVEL where Adiwa had worked at initially. I let out all my anger at the owner, Mr. Moreda, who told me the ticket had nothing to do with him, and that I should consult Adiwa who had processed it. However, he said something that remains memorable: “I trained that boy but he still does the same mistakes he did while working for me.”
I was then completely exhausted with stress, but dragged my suitcase to the tube and traveled back to my residence. When I reached home, I immediately called my contact in South Africa to reschedule my arrival. I later caught up with Adiwa on the phone that night, and after explaining my ordeal, he simply claimed that the ticket had been booked in the right manner and that the check-in lady was the one who had not understood the whole process. I am not an expert in booking flight tickets, so I had nothing more to say. However, I made it very clear that he would have to refund my taxi bill, which he did later on that summer.
Any lessons from this experience? Yes, quite a lot and you can figure it out when you get stranded at Arlanda due to a mistake done by your travel agent.
One always has this feeling that its preferable to boost a brothers business than to help a mzungu. The brother however cannot distinguish between good service, integrity and marketing in essence they really torture own brothers and serve the mzungu absolutely well. I wonder how this will change. Okantes wife is one of the best geniune sisters we have around, she least deserves this kind of direspect.
Nån som känner till
Saanda Travels Web
http//www.saanda.com

This thing about Adiwa seem to have been going on for some time. The Swedes had been affected long time ago and they blew the whistle kitambo…
Its official. Adiwa is a con::
Warning of Saanda Travels!
Kristian the 24 / 1 10:16
Hey travelers,
I just want to warn of a travel agency in Stockholm, which organizes trips to Kenya. The company named Saanda Travels HB and NOT RUN WITH THEM! The owner named Anthony Adiwa and is a real bungler.
We just hired him to take us to Kenya on 29th December and homes on 14th January, for this, he took out just over 30,000 – for four people and gave us a ticket printer, which proved to be false.
We got a ticket that said that we would travel with KLM from Arlanda Stockholm via Amsterdam and further down to Nairobi. 11 hours before departure, calling Anthony us and say that KLM requires 12,000: – for us to get away. Of course, we can not cough up money in so short a time as when he booked us on another flight, the Stockholm-London-Doha-Nairobi, a journey that takes us one day and result in missing a day in Kenya. Well, we came in all cases away …
However, problems did not end there.
When we have a week left in Kenya, we know that he has booked us home on the 21st January, which is impossible for us as we all have jobs waiting at home. After much success nyah he lay on us to the 18th, which is so clearly not worked for us. We had bought a tour of his home with the 14th, what was the problem? The guy did not manage to get us on a flight home the 14th, even though we had paid for it and even seen a ticket that we were booked then. (Presumably, he hammer out the ticket at home)
It all ended with that we had booked our return journey itself, which cost us a further 2000: – per person.
Now when we get home and try to grab him so he refuses to answer the phone, on sms or via mail. We demand that he should replace our home but we will be ignored.
So now we are warning everyone to be out and travel. NOT TO TRAVEL SAANDA HB!
Otherwise, nice trip:)

Annars trevlig resa :)

Is there anyone who has experience in the book Thailand Travel by Saanda Travel,? We have booked through them and received confirmation of dates with Thai Airways on the mail and paid 300: – per person, within 3 weeks now, the final payment to be made, and I just wonder if anyone else has advantage of them and it is quite OK. I have tried to mail and call them but they do not respond.

Pannis Hello! we booked to travel with them now in March and would go to thailand between Christmas-New Year’s Eve. we are 7st. the trip would cost 9900 per person, in October end of the month, raising rakcaren price at 14500 / prson. We have been in Stockholm and met him he would agree to a room in a Barbershop. we had not afford to go with him, we called for Malaysia Airlines as he booked us in and asked about the price increase, and so far they had not increased. I booked a trip charter with the wing, we will unfortunately not gone as long as planned but we will anyway go, the down payment, I had actually withdrawn. Never again will book through saanda travels, your liking.

many consumers have heard of to me about Saanda Travels reservations and all have suffered equally bad. Saanda Travel takes charge full payment and confirm the booking via email, but then it turns out that the passenger does not come with air travel. The traveler has never been informed that they must call the airline and confirm their boknoing. The passenger has been very difficult to get in touch with the manager at Saanda Travel and repayment is late.

Warning of Saanda Travel!
Sanarn says:
Just want to warn all those who have to find cheap flights in Saanda Travel in Stockholm. Do not go with them! Or “he” perhaps we should say. It seems that only one person who works there and he never answers the phone and very rarely via email. We booked a trip to Thailand with Thai Air, through him, o, I knew there was something suspicious when I booked, but after having been seen that we were booked on a flight so it felt calmer. Booking confirmation, however, was so cryptic and difficult to interpret as we possibly can and to try to get explanations from him is completely impossible. When I then began to poke a little deeper into this so it appeared that our seats were quite as reserved as we thought. He customer apparently sit and wangle these locations the way he wanted and flight times could be changed a bit anyway. From having booked a direct flight to flight with several stopovers. In addition, approaching date for final payment shock as he raises the price by explaining that the flight tax has been raised so far. Did this up with Thai Air and they could certify that the air tax had not risen as sharply as he claimed. They were also warned for Saanda Travel because they do not have a contract with him and they have had too many travelers who have been deceived by this man. They warned of counterfeit tickets and travelers who could not get home once they had reached their destination. So I just want all of you who have booked through Saanda Travel to know this and think you before you buy your travel through him.

Varning för Saanda Travel!
——————————————–

Good that you announce this! Thai Air is otherwise quite expensive to go with, we understand more about going to bluff Saanda Travel, NY. The risk is simply that the travel agency changes its name, and then continue with fraud. It applies to keep your eyes open!

Can not understand the book at all if it is “suspicious”! You may think a little and not throw money down the drain. To book only the serious companies that have made travel. Then one can look at Consumer Agency notifications and cint.se example, to see if there are others who warn against the company. If it feels wrong or they think it is the least uncertain, as does, of course, be that book.

I feel really strongly with Sanarn. He is no fool, but only a young lad who tries to come down to the heat cheap. Everyone was young. I myself have boys in this age, and not the equally experienced as the father does not. I really hope that you will not be fooled. I must also warn all you young girls and guys for all the lying and fishing for your money online. Are you students – book with Kilroy or use MrJet, Seat24 or other reputable sites. Eg MrJet earn 150 bucks on a ticket to Tenerife and perhaps on a 3-400 to Thailand. It is unrealistic to believe that småskuttare would be satisfied with 150-300 per ticket. Then you have to sell thousands of tickets if there’ll be no money – PER MONTH! Think about it. Add not frivolous. And all of us on the web – Helping young people not be deceived. So clearly is not only young people but many others with. Hope everything right. Janne on Amazing Gray.

Hi Sierra,
Here I am, unfortunately, not with you … quote: “No warranty – not serious = Stay as far away as possible!”
Companies that sign the travel of Kammarkollegiet sell “package”. So a customer buys the whole package, like air + hotel + rental car. or combine …
There are other companies that I enlisted the help of “ONLY” sell HOTELS or AIR or TAXICAB who are specialists in their bransh and EJ has made travel in Kammarkolegiet because these companies do not need a travel Chamber of college when these companies do not sell “packages”. And these serious business, I myself have been used by me without any problems at my destination. Do you or anyone else know what company I spent so I send like the name. Have a good day,

This is how being foolish, egoistic, shortsighted, greedy and uncoth ruins the reputations of every Kenyan and by extension Africans all over the world. Adiwa should be very very ashamed and repent by not dealing with the public anymore. He is a liabilty to the Kenyan community in Stockholm and Sweden as a whole.
Three years ago my wife was travelling with our two babies to Kenya using a ticket bought from Adiwa. She had so much luggage and I had to drive her to Arlanda then rush back to work in Stockholm. When she arrived at the check-in desk, she was told that the departure time indicated on the ticket was wrong. She was so shocked and just burst into tears, feeling helpless and alone with our kids. The airline personnel sympathized with her because of the children and squeezed her into an empty seat which got free after a passenger had called off his trip.
We never called Adiwa back and have made sure that we book all our trips to Kenya directly from particular airlines on the Internet.
I wonder how many people know what happens when flights are booked. Airlines have guidelines and tickets have lots of conditions. The cheaper the fare the more the conditions. There are things like non refundable, non reroutable, non extendable and non endorsable. One can decide to travel for a month and a ticket is valid for a month,if they extend they may have to pay extra or buy a new ticket all together. One needs to ask if there are conditions to the ticket. Also airlines can change their timings and it up to the traveller to reconfirm 72hrs b4 departure,if you don’t do it, suprises can occur. I have used the agent severally and had no problems at all. lets encourage him,now that clay closed down. This is our own trying to make it. The fact that Thai Air has no agreement with Saanda does not mean they have issues with him. Travel agents can enter into agreements with different carriers. The agents make very little commission from the paid amount. I think the most is 5% of the full fare. Now with online bookings, even less. Please ask enough questions b4 you travel. This is not SL where everything is straight forward. There must be an explanation to this. Can Saanda speak and we listen? Agents can also err but they sell on behalf of airlines and they follow the airlines rules.
This agent even gives people time to pay, you can be travelling in a months time but have no money, he can hold the seat for you with his money. There must be some more who have something positive to say.
KSB: May be, Saanda should give the other part of the story because current exposures are being made by people holding nyundos and who are convinced that they were treated badly. The accusations are no longer rumors or gossip because people behind the stories have been named. Saanda should be able to defend itself because these exposures do not auger well for bizzinesi.
Curious:
Most of us have traveled so many times and know all the necessary rules about re-confirming tickets especially from Africa. In this case, we are talking of numerous blunders from Western Europe that do not require re-confirmation by the passenger before departure.
If you read and understand Swedish, how do you interpret what most Swedish people have written in the Internet links provided? These are dissatisfied customers who began complaining in 2006 about Adiwa’s mistakes and abrupt price hikes which many don’t experience with other agents.
All the people I know who had bought tickets from Adiwa and encountered problems, have never had any more problems from other agents in Stockholm. Those complaining are not against supporting him, but are against his uncouth ways of dealing with his own mistakes once they get into problems at various airports. Are the West Africans or Somalis who complain so wrong?
Adiwa has been running this business since 2001 and he knows that he MUST inform all the passengers the basic rules and changes arising before they travel. How do you explain Adiwa’s response to the recent case of the Kenyan lady who got stranded at Arlanda and the version provided by the husband?
It is about business and he will never leave you a penny if you cannot pay the full fee he asks. And for your information, even other agents accept part-payment depending upon personal guarantee like a salary. Adiwa’s conditions are the same, so he is not special in this respect.
We have supported Adiwa as a fellow Kenyan, but in cases where we lose money because he cannot guarantee quality work, then common sense and not “brotherhood” must lead us.
After years of silent suffering among Kenya-Stockholmers without a public forum to air grievances concerning Adiwa’s incompetence, KSB has at last provided the space to vent. Interestingly, Swedes had already noticed his lies and the overcharging of plane tickets and had begun posting complaints by 2006 on various Internet sites provided here.
Most of Adiwa’s Kenyan customers trust him because of the patriotic feeling that supporting a countryman is good for our development and possibly due to the part-payment he offers for buying tickets. However, buying tickets from him has proven to be expensive in the long run because of his shoddy work shown openly in the examples posted here from Swedes, and the latest case involving Mr. Okante’s wife, Lensa.
We all have a sense of camaraderie when it comes to supporting our local community. However, it feels bad that with all the hardships we undergo to make money, a countryman we wish well in his business, has for all these years been cheating some of us and using sly marketing strategies to advertize rates that don’t exist in reality, to sell his tickets. Whom shall we turn to if we cannot even trust one of our own?
It is unfortunate that most of the comments entered at KSB do not support Adiwa because they point at the lies and suspicions in a business he alone understands and can dictate prices at will. One Swedish person has written how he tested Adiwa at various times for the same ticket and within a very short period, he got shifting and expensive offers which Adiwa blamed on rising taxes.
Even in the recent case of Lensa, Adiwa lied when defending himself initially at KSB, before his name was revealed openly by her husband, Mr. Okante. I applaud him for going public to challenge Adiwa’s claims which were false. Mr. Okante is a brother-in-law to our Kenyan community, being somebody from West Africa. We should feel proud that he is with one of our sisters and treat him with respect. There was no way he could call KSB to lie because he was definitely pained to see that his wife’s countryperson could do this to her.
Lensa trusted Adiwa to discharge the booking efficiently, since she had planned her trip early enough.
I am now telling myself that had we known that the Swedes had begun complaining about Adiwa’s crooked ways years ago, some of us could have been spared the agony of losing time and money on behalf of benefiting his swollen ego, selfishness and greed. But anyway, the truth has at last come out.
Curious:
All the people who have commented about Adiwa have done so from personal experiences. KSB has provided a platform for his prospective clients to make informed choices after reading these encounters.
I agree with Caro that common sense should lead us in avoiding suspicious ticket purchases that have no guarantee. Those who have not faced problems with Adiwa like you, are free to continue buying his tickets.
I give up. I was hoping Saanda could speak and we hear. My experience was different and its unfortunate and sorry for your horrible encounters. But you don’t have to be rude please.
Curious: Who is being rude? People have noted their own perspectives which point to incompetence on Adiwa’s part in selling tickets. Your experience with him has been fault-free, excellent.
If I encountered similar mistakes at a Swedish travel agency, I would still use common sense and not go back there. This is a matter of customer satisfaction, which if is not available, then one has the right to fetch it elsewhere.
The safety with buying a ticket from an agent is the assurance that you will not be stranded at any airport and that is why you pay that extra fee for services. When you purchase a ticket online, the conditions are very clear and if you miss your plane, you don’t have to blame Adiwa.
However, if you encounter problems that Adiwa should have shelved in the act of selling you the ticket, then you have the right to blame him.

More complaints on Antony Adiwa from Swedes. It is important to see how they have systematically monitored his operations since 2006, while Kenyans and other Africans continued buying tickets from him despite the mistakes he did.
The Swede who mentioned the irony behind Adiwa calling his company “the biggest Nordic travel agency on the Internet” made a lot of sense. His company is registered as “SAANDA HB” (Handelsbolag) and NOT AB (Aktiebolag).
It means he does not have money to register a limited company with guarantee and ready cash in case of travel inconveniences to his customers. This is why Adiwa operates like a poor “Jua Kali” man robbing Mwangi to pay Atieno. He has no floating cash and waits for any customer who gives him money to buy the other waiting customer a ticket. It means Adiwa is perpetually indebted to any customer purchasing a ticket from him.
He lives from hand to mouth and that is risky because his clients face the danger of losing a lot of money as we have read. No wonder he keeps hiking ticket prices to cushion deficits.
Adiwa is fake and potential passengers should be very careful because if his company is a mere HB, he can never guarantee any repayment of money after issuing his perennially bogus tickets.
The worst is his arrogance towards clients after the faulty bookings are detected. He has never appreciated the goodwill people gave him with full support as a countryman because he is greedy. Let the cookies crumble!!!!

24/1-08.
Annars trevlig resa :)
Adiwa is sitting tight hoping that this fierce stormy period will die a natural death.
As recent as last week, I sent a Swedish friend to test him using the same methods to compare his ticket prices and whether he has changed. But no, the xxxx in him is the same through and through. This is a sworn xxxx who uses all means to survive.
He gave my friend the same old saga of fares changing by the minute and oil prices being controlled by the Saudi sheikhs who don’t care, etc.
Another reliable travel agency told him that Saanda’s crooked ways are known among them. They gave a stable airfare that only changes according to the usual peak tourist periods.
KSM: We have not heard Adiwa’s part of the story although we think that he has a right of response. He could be having a different tale in his relationship with his customers.
The latest news from a reliable source says that Antony Adiwa has fled to Kenya. He is trying to take the heat off by lying low because the Swedish police are after him.
Kindly can anyone tell me about Antony Adiwa’s whereabouts and if possible his phone number or email address?
