In a Press conference today Tuesday January 2nd, ODM has repeated that the million match rally scheduled for tomorrow thursday 3rd January, will proceed as planned. William Ruto, a member of ODM Pentagon, said that the police have been informed and that ODM expects police to provide security during the rally.
Speaking to the Press, Mr. Musalia Mudavadi, a leading member of ODM, appealed to ODM supporters to be peaceful during the rally and to avoid acts of lawlessness and hooliganism that might give police excuses to attack the rally.
The fake Kibaki government has banned the rally but the ODM Pentagon has said that it will proceed, arguing that banning the rally in a violation of the Kenyan Constituion which provides for Freedom of Assembly. The law says that organizers of such rallies must give a three day’s notice to police, a requirement which ODM has fulfilled.
