At the Narc-KS Party that was organized on Saturday 28th April at Alby to launch the Narc-KS website, a significant development also took place. The Party had officially invited ODM-KS to the function and since there is no acrimony or serious rivalry between the two Parties, ODM-KS honored the invitation.
Apart from launching the website, two speakers were given the opportunity to address the crowd. Mr. Martin Ngatia, the Vice chairperson of ODM-KS was one of the speakers.
He said that regardless of political differences, “we are one people”, adding that “We cannot allow tribalism and nepotism to lead Kenya” amid applause.
Pointing out that he was happy to have been allowed to address the gathering, Mr. Ngatia said that both ODM-KS and Narc-KS should prove to Kenyans that “We are the most civilized and sophisticated people in this time and era”. He said that despite political differences, everybody was enjoying at the Party and that nobody was fighting with one another.
There was a good turn out at the Party and Narc Kenya leaders appeared very satisfied. The Master of Ceremony was Mr. Daniel Mwaura, the Chairperson while Mr. Githuku wa Muirani welcomed visitors at the door.
After Mr. Ngatia, Mr. Dick Kamau, the Secretary General of Chama Cha Mwananchi, also “greeted the crowd”. He said that Kenyans ought to remain united. He told the crowd that Kenyans in Scandinavia formed a Constituency and encouraged members of the community to return to Kenya to play politics when they think that it is time.
He introduced Mr. Keegan Kagwe whom, he said, is the Representative of CCM in Scandinavia. Mr. Keegan is a well known Kenyan in Stockholm.
He said that at home, Kenyans are reading blogs and advised that blogs should focus on development issues. He said that sometimes, what is published in the blogs are progressive while some times retrogressive.
KSB had discussions with several prominent Kenyans at the function about different topics. KSB had discussions with Mr. David Nyori, Mr. Nashon Mbugua (Narc-KS Committee members), Mr. Dick Kamau, Mr. Jamlik Muritu, Ms Caroline Irungu and many others who all had interesting points of views on diverse issues.
However, the situation in Stockholm took center stage in the discussions followed by the situation in Kenya. The problem of Munala in ODM-KS was scratched, the Narc web site was mentioned, past stories in KSB were re-winded and analyzed with lots of good tips on how the site could be improved.
The “Ngatia address” marked a turning point in the relationship between ODM-KS and Narc-KS which has not been able to make contacts at the official level. The atmosphere was friendly and one could feel that Wakenya wako pamoja regardless of political differences. Mr. Mwaura winded up the address by telling the crowd that Narc Kenya was fully behind President Kibaki.
