Members of the Märsta “Kilimanjaro Leopards” which has been organizing Parties in Märsta for the last one year have regrouped to form a new Union calling itself “Africaine Maison”. The Union has been registered by the Tax Office after presenting its Constitution and other relevant documents.
According to Mr. Charles Otieno Owiyo, the organization’s Interim Secretary who is also the Spokesperson of the group, the registration of the Union is significant because it will accord the Union the opportunity to get more organized, recruit members with interest in the Entertainment industry in Stockholm and provide quality services to both members and supporters looking for fun. Mr. Otieno is also the Organizing secretary of ODM-K Scandinavia.
“The idea to form the Union was due to the fact that most activities involving Africans have always been centered in the Southern region of Stockholm. Consequently, Kenyans residing in the North have always had to travel a long distance to attend these activities”, Mr. Otieno told KSB.
“Plans are on the way by the Union to organize the first ever Grand open Nyama choma festival in the region sometime between June and August to be followed by disco entertainment all night”, Mr. Otieno said.
Mr. Otieno said Africaine Maison was also planning children’s activities. The Union is currently recruiting members especially from the African continent.
“Our main objective is to see to it that Africans unite and interact around well organized activities”, Otieno said.
The first Disco entertainment by the new Union will take place on Saturday the 28th of April starting from 8:00pm till chee. The Address for the venue is Norrbacka School, Odensalavägen 1 in Märsta. Mr. Otieno told KSB that the Union hopes to pull an overwhelming crowd this time round. Further information can be obtained by contacting Mr. Otieno at: 0704954947.
