Election of officials of the Kenya Social Forum In Sweden (Kesofo) scheduled for Saturday 31st March will most likely be a walkover for the Interim committee officials. Names of candidates wishing to stand for elections were supposed to be submitted to the Forum’s Electoral commissioners by March 20th. Majority of those who presented their names were Interim officials who have been running the Forum since March last year.
Some Interim officials will however not be standing. They have cited family reasons although two have said that they might not be able to cope with the heavy responsibility of sitting in the Forum’s Committee.
So far, Kesofo members who were interviewed by KSB seem satisfied with the work the Interim officials have so far done and it looks like they will return to office.
A show down between members of ODM-K Scandinavia and Narc-K Scandinavia who are members of Kesofo appear to have been averted by the high level of political consciousness of Kesofo members. There is a general agreement that Party issues should not be mixed up with the Forum’s issues and this pact appears to be working well.
