Raila Amolo Odinga, Cord’s presidential candidate, has just held a Press Conference where he alleged several election malpractices by IEBC. For the first time, and according to Raila Odinga, the tallying process had been tampered with to rig the 2013 election process.
Raila has claimed that among other irregularities, voters registeres had been tampered with, Cord’s Presidential election agents were chased from the tallying center at Bomas of Kenya while he has also said that Cord has a pile up of documents about irregularities written to IEBC during the tallying process.
Further, Raila Odinga has given instances where the number of votes cast did not tally with the number of votes announced by IEBC while he also gave examples where votes from certain constituencies were announced twice without explanations. According to Raila Odinga, the voters register was doctored in favour of Jubilee. Another allegation is that in certain instances, the voter’s register was tampered with in a way that reduced votes in Cord’s strong-holds in favour of Jubilee.
It is the first time that concrete allegations of election malpractices are emerging about the just concluded General elections in Kenya. Consequently, Raila said that Cord does not recognize the results that were announced by the IECB.
Initially, and in the absence of concrete evidence, it was the impression of KSB that the elections had no serious irregularities. While calling for calm, Raila said that the Cord Coalition will go to court to challenge the announcement of the fraudulent results. The Cord leader said that Kenya now has an independent judiciary and promised to accept the verdict of the Supreme Court of Kenya.
Under the current Constitution, the new President elect, Uhuru Kenyatta, will not be sworn in until the outcome of the court case. The emergence of Raila Odinga to challenge the results opens a new front in the struggle for the democratization process in Kenya. Raila appealed for calm among Cord’s supporters as the court process begins. Under the new Constitution, the Supreme court has the capacity to annul the election results on the basis of evidence adduced and this means that the new President elect, Uhuru Kenyatta, will not be sitting pretty ahead of his swearing in ceremony scheduled for 26th March 2012. The struggle against any Jubilee government appears to have just begun.

KSB: Wangari, I don’t know where you are coming from. The case is going to court and this is allowed under the knew Constitution. You claim that Raila has been rejected by “Kenyans” but do you realize that he got 5.3 million votes? Were those voters Ugandans? The point is this. Every Kenyan who voted needs to rest assured that their vote was not useless. The court needs to show whether the tallying process at Bomas did not compromize the results. If this is not done, and if all Kenyans adopt your chicken brain reasoning, the 5 million Kenyans who voted for Raila will say that “Uhuru will not force his leadership on us”. Next, Kisumu will be on fire and before you can say ngai faffa, Coast will be burning. You might not know it but Western and Eastern provinces gave Raila 80% of the votes and they will be on fire. With violence across the country, Uhuru will not be able to govern so take it easy. Allow the court process to proceed, take some irio or muratina and relax. Remember to keep the peace. Wangari is a typical rabid tribalist who thinks that it is signed by God that Raila will never lead Kenya. I wonder why one should invoke God’s name while breathing hatred. The Supreme Court will handle the matter and afterwards we shall know the truth. Otherwise Raila was voted in by people outside his tribe, showing that he was not rejected by Kenyans as Wangari assumes.

In politics, they say that the MAJORITY have their way while the MINORITY have their say…..that is in a fair and transparent contest. all of us are Kenyans and nobody should think that he/she is more Kenyan than the other. The comment by Wangari is just worrying. Uhuru Kenyatta could have not been in that position he is today if all Kenyans were reasoning like Wangari……infact we could be still having the second president of the republic still ruling if we never had people like Raila, Matiba, Muite, Jaramogi, Rubia, Orengo, Anyona, Shikuku, Muliro etc etc. Some of the beneficiaries(cowards) of the struggle need not be mentioned ie #dislodging KANU from power is like cutting a mugumo tree with a razor blade#
I simply mean, Kenyans should be united and we coexist peacefully with each other. Lets respect human dignity. by saying Kenyans have Raila is a falacy and very unfortunate notion in this modern Kenya. Even Uhuru was defeated in 2002….did that mean that God alikataa? Obel, if you are a Doctor as you have indicated, then I wonder loudly. “Kumbwa” sasa ndio nini? As you preach actions of the olden biblical days, you must appreciate that in the modern world, integration is at its peak.
