A Brief Presentation of “Africa Monetary Fund”

The Africa Monetary Fund (AMF) is an Economic Association and a Trust Fund that was set up last year by a group of Africans and Swedes who are interested in arranging economic activities for the mutual benefit of members. AMF is run by a Board of Directors who are answerable to members and who are responsible for the Board’s activities.

AMF is registered in Sweden as an Economic Association and membership is open to individuals and organizations that abide by the statutes of the Fund.  A key business idea which propels AMF is the concept of Business to Business (B2B), which entails a network of global business activities among individuals and various economic entities.

A major component of AMF is a Trust Fund, known as the Hussein Ssembatya Memorial Fund. The Hussein Ssembatya Memorial Fund was set up in honor and memory of the late Hussein Ssembatya from Uganda (a brother and a great friend of many in Sweden and beyond) who died in Stockholm, on August 17, 2009.

The Ssembatya Memorial Fund is intended to serve as a source of emergency and relief funding for members as well as for other humanitarian activities. Money for the Fund is raised through AMF’s business activities and contributions from other organizations, companies and private individuals of good will. The Fund is managed by the Hussein Ssembatya Board of Directors, in close consultation with the Board of Directors of AMF Economic Association.

AMF also works closely with the Ritz Society, an Entertainment, Record and Promotion company whose agenda is to promote African musicians in Africa and in the Diaspora, expose these musicians to target audiences and assist with other related activities in the spirit of solidarity, brotherhood and sisterhood for a better Africa.

So far, the biggest business Project AMF is currently involved in entails collaboration with other partners in the setting up of Crown Airlines, a new Airline that will fly from Arlanda International Airport directly to Entebbe in Uganda from where travellers will be able to connect to other destinations like Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa, Rwanda and other environs. In other words, it will be possible for travellers to book flights to different African destinations with Entebbe acting as a transit point. Crown Airlines is scheduled to start operations on 1st November 2010 and promises to do business at very competitive rates. Further information about Crown Airlines will be released soon.
