The family of the late Rodney Kamau Mukaru who passed away recently in Uppsala, has thanked Kenyans, friends, well-wishers and sympathizers who showed up to condole with to bereaved family following the passing of their loved one.
On Sunday, 16 October 2016, a huge crowd gathered at Skarpnäck in Stockholm to support the family morally and materially and to provide comfort at a difficult time. In a note sent to KSB, Winnie Mukaru, Rodney’s sister, said that the family greatly appreciated the kind words and the generous financial support the family received.
“Thank you for your time and for being there to help with anything that needed to be done”, Winnie said. “We realise how truly we are blessed to have such wonderful friends during times like this. Your expressions of sympathy will never be forgotten”, she added.
The family was fundraising to transport Rodney’s body to Kenya for burial and Winnie said that the family was grateful that the amount needed was raised. She said that Rodney will be laid to rest next to his father.
Winnie also disclosed that the family is planning to set up a Foundation in Rodney’s name so that he will never be forgotten.
