KSB under pressure to deliver the pix
Despite publication of over 80 photos of the Jackie-Francis wedding, there remains great demand for more photos that captured spectacular episodes of the equally spectacular wedding that has become the talk of town especially in Kenya-Stockholm.
Within the Kenya-Stockholm community, comparisons are being made with past weddings as organizational differences are mapped out. Although there is no competition in the level of splendor in Kenyan related weddings in Stockholm, certain classic features of the Jackie wedding have been outlined by Kenya-Stockholm’s wedding pundits.
Attendance to the holy matrimony was by invitation only and names were clearly printed on stylish labels that were strategically placed on numbered tables that were draped with white table clothes. This arrangement may have made life difficult for gate crashers because the number of seats matched the number of guests and any gate crasher could have found it daunting settling on a table.
In local parlance, it was “a closed wedding”. Such weddings have been witnessed in Kenya-Stockholm before so there was nothing new that a new one had popped up.
What was different compared to traditional Kenya-Stockholm weddings was the choice of venue, the quality of interior designs, the style of service of guests and the general flow of events. The venue was unique because it was not some backstreet lokal but a classic restaurant in Älvjö in Stockholm.
The restaurant staff served the guests after fixing the food so there were no Kenyans (or Liberians for that matter) running around serving people or trying to fix staff. In terms of catering, the service could be compared with what was witnessed at Clay’s wedding where an institution was hired to prepare food and serve guests. The difference at the Jackie wedding was that it was a buffet and guests waited patiently for their turns to fill their plates.
At the Church, the bride arrived in a limo (similar to that used during the two weddings of Shiela and the Murayas). The difference was that instead of guests at the Church being left to find their way to the reception (especially those who were not on wheels), a bus was hired to transport them to the venue. This was new.
Without going into further details, the wedding was wonderful and Kenya-Stockholmers planning weddings could probably learn something here and there. Now that everybody wants to see the photos, KSB may have to move on to Facebook because not all the photos can be published at KSB. In answering certain questions that have cropped up via email and FB postings, there is no criteria for posting the photos and the best photos are so far being published at random.
Don’t contact KSB requesting that your photo be published. It may not be good enough and you may be disappointed. In case you don’t like your published photo because of some reason, let us know because the photos are being published under the assumption that the images are impressive and not embarrassing. We don’t want to publish photos against anybody’s will.
We will continue to publish what we can but we cannot guarantee that all photos will be published at KSB. We hope that our readers will understand this position. The rest of the photos will be published at Facebook so if you do not find everything at KSB, keep an eye on Facebook. KSB takes this opportunity to congratulate Jackie, Francis and the wedding team for a job well done.
Okoth Osewe

Osewe, with such a tight system used for inviting guests, was there a Kenyan who dared to gatecrash? If there was, the person must be shameless. How on earth would one do such a thing? A gatecrasher only gatecrashes once, because while your hostess will make you feel at ease, uninvited as you are, her body language, as she introduces you to everyone, will tell them all that you are a gatecrasher. The other guests memorise your face as though it’s “Osama’s Most Wanted Poster”, which it might as well be, and your reward for gatecrashing means you will be avoided like the Flu during the function!
I guess such a person had no chance at the wedding reception because the sitting arrangement involved clearly printed names, meaning no space to sit on.
KSB: I don’t know whether there were any gatecrashers because I was having a nice time as I took KSB photos.
keep them pix coming Osewe.U did a good job.
KSB: Thanks. I am just noticing that pix matter to a lot of people. Some people did not have cameras and they have made their point. Others had cameras but they missed the action!!
Now that Osewe has explained the logistics used at the Jackie-Francis wedding, mine will include various modes of transportation. Past weddings have had limos including a Hummer which Clay used.Mine will combine horse carriages, a helicopter and tram ride. And all in the name of mapepe project. Coming soon – Watch this space!
We are still waiting for the photo with the KISS that sealed the wedding of Francis and Jacqueline. Without it at KSBc, there are ? marks!
Cheers Chole, way to go! And since you intend to use even tram ride, make sure you are not selective coz then you can afford to invite everybody plus all the ogandawalas like the rest have done in the past.
