The Committee that has masterminded the Farewell Party of Mr. George Kinyua, a Kenyan diplomat who has been transferred to Canada, has invited all Kenyans, friends and well-wishers to the Farewell reception that will take place of Saturday December 22nd at Bagarmossen Church. The function begins at 14.00 hrs.
Speaking to KSB, Mr. Githuku wa Muirani, the designated Master of Ceremony at the Reception, told KSB that the Party committee is being led by Mr. Muritu wa Githu, the Chairperson and Brother Samson who will lead the prayer session. Mr. Muirani will be helped by Mr. Muritu.
Mr. Muirani said that a Program for the day will be issued later by the Committee. He said that the property of Mr. Kinyua and family has already left for Canada and encouraged friends and well wishers who intend to bring presents to “carry envelopes” instead.
“It will be difficult for the family to carry a huge luggage and under the circumstances, it is the view of the Committee that friends and well wishers carry envelopes”, Mr. Muinai told KSB.
Asked whether the Kenyan Ambassador to Scandinavia H.E Mrs Purity Muhindi will be present, Mr. Muirani said that the information the Committee has is that Embassy staff have also been invited. He hoped that the Ambassador will be able to make it.
Mr. Kinyua has been very close to members of the Kenyan community and his departure will leave a huge vacuum if his successor Mr. Daniel Kottut does not move in to fill it.
Mr. Kinyua has been grooming Mr. Kottut and introducing him to Wakenya in Stockholm as part of preparations for his acclimatization in Stockholm. Many Kenyans hope that Mr. Kottut will rise to the occasion at a time when relationship between Kenyans and the Embassy is tense. Mr. Kinyua is expected to leave for Canada by the 27th of December.
