Mr. George Kinyua, the First secretary at the Kenyan Embassy, will have a farewell reception on December 22nd at Bagarmorssen church from 14.00 hrs before he moves to Canada where he has been transferred. He is expected to leave directly to Canada by December 27th, a week after the reception.
Through KSB and other channels, all Kenyans have been invited to the reception. No cards will be going out and Kenyans are requested to spread the word through word of mouth, SMS, email, web sites etc.
Mr. Kinyua is known to be a strict Christian who has been a consistent member of the Bagarmossen church since it was founded by a group of Kenyans. During his tenure at the Embassy, he has kept himself away from scandal while he has been the point man in repairing the image of the Embassy at every opportunity.
The diplomat has been very social with Kenyans and it is the expectation of the community that Mr. Daniel Kottut who is taking over from Kinyua will follow his predecessor’s foot-steps.
The outgoing diplomat has been steady in attending Kenyan functions, sometimes appearing on behalf of Ambassador Purity Muhindi who has been very much at large.
On Friday, Mr. Kinyua was at the reception to welcome the family of Mr. Daniel Mwaura while on the following day, Saturday December 1st, the diplomat was at the “Kenya Unity Party” at Norsborg to outline Embassy policy and to take up discussions with Kenyans.
The presence of Embassy staff at Kenyan functions is always appreciated by Wakenya because it normally gives them the opportunity to engage the Embassy on diverse issues.
Mr. Kinyua has been working at the Embassy for the last two years. Further information about the reception can be obtained from the Kenyan embassy or from Brother Samson of the Bagarmossen church.
