Is Another Kenya Possible? A Public Forum Featuring Onyango Oloo
Onyango Oloo, former political prisoner, social justice activist and current director of the Nairobi-based Sankara Centre for Social Movements is paying a short visit to the Kenyan communities in Norway and Sweden. KSB has made further contacts with Oloo to get details about his presentation.
In line with information already circulated, he will participate in a public forum on Thursday 7th May organized around the theme: “Is Another Kenya Possible?”
Onyango Oloo will give his take on the current insecurity, violence and conflicts around the country and address the contemporary political standoffs in the run up to this year’s elections. He will contribute an analysis on the state of Kenyan social movements and give his perspectives on the prospect for fundamental democratic transformation of Kenya.
His talk will be preceded by a video profile of SINPARE, a Kenyan underground hip hop group, and clips from the 7th edition of the World Social Forum held in Nairobi in January this year. Oloo was a member of the WSF 2007 Secretariat.
Thereafter, the rest of the evening will be devoted to what is expected to be a lively and dynamic free exchange of views during a question and answer plenary session.
The event will be held at Wananchi Pavilion (Högbersgatan 48 – Tube: Medborgaplatsen or Slussen) and starts at 19.00.
