Shock as Jubilee is rejected in Kisii

Shock as Jubilee is rejected in Kisii

The shock and disbelieve was well captured by the NTV camera man in this 1 minute video. Some rallies were poorly attended despite massive mobilization effort, in other rallies speakers where heckled; Prof Ongeri, William Ruto and Omondi Odinga were the major causalities. Of interest was the rumour that Makadara MP Mike Sonko was to splash cash to the crowds from one of the three choppers, the rumour was a blessing and indeed a game changer that pulled crowds to the otherwise ignored rallies, many abandoned their activities in the farms with the hope of picking a 1000 shillings note.

At some point the three choppers landed at the same time creating a huge attraction and ofcourse talk of the day in the usually quiet villages. In another rally a section of the crowd were loudly asking for bribes from the leaders an indication that indeed they had been promised cash. The heckling and shouting down of leaders happened when angry youths started singing songs in praise of CORD Presidential flag bearer Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Omondi Odinga did not help matters when he asked the crowd to shout loud enough “to scare ODM out of Gusii region”, Omondi had been invited by United Republican Party (URP) leader William Ruto to address the crowd. Any leader who mentioned Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s name was heckled by the youth who demanded to hear policies or be paid to listen to any criticism directed at the CORD leader.

Education Minister Prof Sam Ongeri and Eldoret North MP William Ruto were among those who had to cut short their speeches as they insisted on explaining issues by reference to Odinga to which the crowds could not withstand.

Confident and often cheerful nominated MP Rachel Shebesh, Mike Sonko and their Gachoka counterpart Mutava Musyimi expressed outright shock on their faces as things unfolded.

From the events in Kisii, it is clear that even the 25% constitution threshold vote count at county level is not achievable in the two Gusii counties by Jubilee alliance, CORD seem to enjoy massive support even before it unveils campaigns in the region.

MERU community voting for RAILA – MP delves

Tuesday January 8,2013 – Former Ntonyiri MP Maoka Maore has said the entire Meru community will support Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s Presidential bid instead of Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta.

Maore who was a KANU stalwart during former President Moi’s regime said the community will vote for the PM as he is the only presidential aspirant who will ensure the clamour for reforms which started in 1992 is actualised.

Speaking to one of the local dailies on Sunday, Maore who is a close ally of President Mwai Kibaki said the likes of Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto are just opportunists who have been sent by power merchants to destroy the ongoing constitutional reforms.

“If you look at the clamour to stop Raila (from becoming president), it is not a clamour to stop Raila the individual but a clamour to stop Raila the messenger; to stop the message of hope, reform and development in the country,”Maoka said.

He said the PM has instituted a number of developments including the bypasses that have now taken shape in Nairobi and was instrumental in the demolition of the structures that had been put up on the path of the bypasses.

On why Raila became an instant billionaire, Maoka said that was a propaganda being perpetuated by anti-Raila elements.

“This is propaganda manufactured about Raila by some people in Mount Kenya and it will remain just that. Gradually the propaganda will isolate them as the rest of the country moves on,” he said.

He further said the only community that fears Raila is the Kikuyu because they do not believe in institutions.

He said the Kikuyu community was made to believe Raila is against them and their ambitious business interests will be jeopardised if Raila becomes the President which is a fallacy.

He expressed confidence on the Raila Presidency, saying Kenya will be liberated on March 5th when Raila takes the driver’s seat of this country.

REVEALED: KHALWALE now has a HOUSE in MUTHAIGA and a RANGE ROVER ….. bribed by UHURU?

Monday January 7, 2013 – Ikolomani MP, Dr Bony Khalwale has kept his colleagues wagging over news of his sudden riches.

The outspoken MP, who is serving his second term, has struggled with finances during the 10 years he has been in parliament with his clinic (was in the NHIF scandal but the payments did not go through) and parliamentary salary being his only source of income.

But last month Khalwale bought a mansion in the up market Muthaiga area and a state of the art Range Rover Sport.

Rumour has it that Khalwale has been paid by Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta after successfully convincing Deputy Prime Minister Musalia Mudavadi to join the Jubilee Alliance during the deadline of the formation of political coalitions last month and further pushing him to go at it alone.

Although the political marriage of Uhuru and Mudavadi ended within two weeks of its formation, Khalwale was rewarded for his good work and for successfully ensuring that the Western vote is not CORDED in one basket!

Kisii Youths Shout at Uhuruto: “Molo Murderer! Computer Error! Thika Road! Dollar!”

By: Isaack Nyakundi in Kisii for Kenya-Today.com

The tour of Kisii by Jubilee team was expected to be successful with no drama, It was the second joint rally by Uhuru and his deputy Ruto since their endorsement at Kasarani. The tour could turn dramatic as they met a hostile crowd that had many demands. Leaders who criticized Raila Odinga were booed and heckled.

The crowd demanded speakers to highlight their performance in public service; presidential candidate Uhuru Kenyatta taking the cue from his counterparts (who had be forced by the angry youths to highlight their performance and agenda) chose to highlight William Ruto’s performance as Agriculture minister and not his tenure as Finance minister.

A section of the crowd kept on chanting Molo Murderer!!, Computer error!!, Thika road!!, Dollar!! in reference to the post election violence, skewed infrastructure development, Uhuru’s famous computer error and the plummeting of the shilling against the dollar during Uhuru’s tenure at the Treasury that saw inflation hit a record high of 22%.

A few youths kept on insisting that Uhuru highlight his record and not Ruto’s performance as Agriculture Minister. It is at this point that they started saying Jubilee with Ruto in the coalition is not welcome to Kisii until he apologizes for the 2007 atrocities. The Post election violence affected many Gusii community members, most of whom were just poor farm labourers in the Kericho tea plantations.

What angered the youth most, was the fact that the leaders had arrived in Choppers to avoid the poor state of roads in the area.

The region was the bedrock of Kibaki presidency, but the developments during the Jubilee rallies is a clear indication that the ground is fast changing especially due to what the youths termed open discrimination against the Gusii IDPs who only got Kshs.10,000 whereas there Rift Valley (Kikuyu) counterparts got Kshs.35,000 and a parcel of land for resettlement.

It remains to be seen what reception Prime Minister Raila Odinga will get in his yet to be announced campaigns in the region.

UHURU/ RUTO may be at the ICC for more than 2 YEARS ……. A PRESIDENT and a VICE????

Thursday, the 10th of January 2013 – International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor Fatou Bensouda has told the Trial Chamber V that her office will need at least two years to present evidence against the four Kenyans facing charges of crimes against humanity at the court.

Bensouda told the court in an application that she will use 826 hours of the court’s time to prosecute the case against Eldoret North MP William Ruto and radio journalist Joshua arap Sang and another 572 hours to produce evidence against Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta and former Head of Civil Service Francis Muthaura.

    The ICC Prosecutor said she will use the time to cross examine 74 prosecution witnesses and another six expert witnesses. She added that the time she quoted was only an estimate and may turn out to be considerably more;

“The estimate does not include time that the chamber may grant to the Office of Public Counsel for Victims or the common legal representative to question prosecution witnesses, or time that the chamber may use to question witnesses.”

    Bensouda added that it was possible her office would get more evidence from the Kenyan government;

“Furthermore, the prosecution has also requested the transcription and translation of 41 audio/video materials it seeks to rely upon, which are not available in any of the official languages of the Court. Some of these materials are already the subject of a separate filing before the chamber,” read the application.

“As such, the prosecution submits that the new availability of access will constitute ‘good cause’ to vary the time restrictions,” she noted.

What will happen if these two WIN?

The so called performance by ruto in agriculture and uhuru in finance is hogwash to say the least simply because the ground had been leveled and Kenya slowly accepted good governance in government and performance management since 2002 when narc removed kanu.
question therefore whats is there score card before narc revolution ?
what were their views about need for change before 2002 ?
why did ruto and his ilk oppose Kenya desire for change in 2002 and 2010 ?
why have they consistently opposed struggle to institute good governance in Kenya from 1990s when the crusade for change stated ?
if they cant see need for change at critical time, when change comes, they claim they are performers ? which sustainable idea or change has ruto and uhuru initiated which is not parochial but for national good which outlived their stay in offices if any?
RUTO LIES,EXAGGERATION,PROPAGANDA,DEMAGOGUERY,CHEERING CROWD MOBILIZED USING BILLIONS OF STOLEN MONEY WILL NOT CHANGE HISTORICAL FACTS,CAN NO CLEAN YOUR TAINTED IMAGE.YOU HAVE BEEN LEADER FOR SELFISH PERSONAL BENEFIT NOT NATIONAL CAUSE — YOU ARE A PRETENDER TO NATIONAL CAUSE– YOUR ROLE IN GRABBING PLOTS,SHADY BUSINESSES.IN YK92,OPPOSITION TO MULti PARTY SYSTEM,CONSTITUTIONAL REFORMS ,GOOD GOVERNANCE IS WELL DOCUMENTED AND KNOWN AND YOU CANT HIDE THIS HISTORICAL FACTS.YOU ARE REVISIONIST AND SEEK TO REAP WHERE YOU DIDNT SOW.HOW WOULD URP BEEN BORN IN 2012 IF JARAMOGI,RAILA,MASINDE,SHIKUKU,MATIBA,RUBIA,GACHOKA,IMANYARA,ANYONA,CHIBULE,MKANGI,ORENGO,NYONGO,MUITE,SHAMALLA, ETC DIDN’T SLEEP IN POLICE CELLS in early 1990,1991 etc you are mercenary and reactionary force but you cannot sit on way of change by false doctrine of peace and unity to cheat and oppress people all the time.if Kenya brought change in 1990 why not in 2013 ?
kanu and moi sang national unity and peace as nyayo philosophy for 24 years why is there no peace in kenya 2013 ?you and uhuru hide under peace and unity to confuse people so that you can take people to dark days of oppression, theft, ethnic chauvinism etc but Kenyans are wise and cannot accept to be led by rogue arrogant people like your lot in jubilee who are tribal kings armed with lots of cash
