Black Inventors, Crafting Over 200 Years of Success, highlights the work of Black inventors from over seventy countries. The author, Keith C. Holmes, has spent more than twenty years researching Black inventors from countries that include Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Cuba, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Ghana, Dominican Republic, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Haiti, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, St. Vincent, South Africa, Sudan, Tanzania, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom, United States and Zimbabwe are just a few. Without inventions, innovations, financial resources, materials, muscle and labor saving devices, civilizations cannot exist and flourish. Our research has cited the first African-American, Henry E. Baker, a United States Naval attendee and Patent Examiner who documented hundreds of inventions by Black inventors.

This book documents a number of inventions, patents and labor saving devices conceived by Black inventors. Among many other inventions, pre-enslaved Africans, developed agricultural tools, building materials, medicinal herbs, cloth and weapons. Although historical documents emphasize that millions of Black people arrived in Canada, the Caribbean, Central and South America and the United States under slavery’s yoke, it is relatively unknown that thousands of Africans and their descendants developed numerous labor-saving devices and inventions that spawned companies which generated money and jobs, worldwide.

While most authors focus primarily on American and European inventors, Keith Holmes introduces inventions, both past and present, that Black people, developed and patented globally and multiculturally. His research documents inventors of color from over seventy countries.

Global Black Inventor Research Projects, Inc., ground breaking book “Black Inventors, Crafting Over 200 Years of Success” has set another milestone. We have cited a number of inventors of color from over seventy countries. There are now over twenty African-Americans inducted into the United States National Inventors Hall of Fame, as well as a number of inventors being given gold medals by the World Intellectual Property Organization. Many inventors of color have received worldwide recognition for their innovations and inventions. We have cited the innovations developed by African inventors.  Our publication is now a part of a number of libraries, including the National Libraries of Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Canada, CARICOM Documentation Centre China, Dominica, Great Britain, Jamaica, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, Trinidad & Tobago, Uganda and Wales to name a few. Keith Holmes: A Brief Background

Keith Holmes, a native New Yorker, writes non-fiction with emphasis on the accomplishments of people of color in the areas of innovation, science and technology. Born in Queens, New York, his curiosity was deeply invested into science and technology.

Trained in Computer Programming and System Design, in the mid 1980’s, Holmes switched careers to Satellite Communication with an emphasis on Domestic and International telecommunication. In 1988, he began researching information about Black inventors in the United States and soon discovered the lack of literature on Black Inventors. After 20 years of compiling research on Black Inventors, Holmes published his first book “Black Inventors, Crafting Over 200 Years of Success”. It catapulted him to one of the leading researchers and writers about inventors of color.
