Memorial Service on 13th April
The body of the late George Obor, who passed away in Stockholm a few weeks ago, will be transported to Kenya on Monday, 16th March 2011. According to information from the George Obor Committee, the body will leave Arlanda International Airport by KLM thereby bringing to a conclusion the mission of the Obor Funeral Committee in Stockholm which was tasked with ensuring that the body is transported to Kenya. The body transportation cost has cost 40.000kr which has been paid to the funeral agency organizing in charge of the mission.
Obor’s wife, together with their daughter will also leave for Kenya the same day that the body leaves from Stockholm. The Obor family has thanked friends, well-wishers and sympathizers alike for helping raise 40.000kr to help finance the transportation of Obor’s body to Kenya. Four days before he passed away, Obor suggested (indirectly) to a group of Kenyans who had paid him a visit at the hospital that he wished his remains to be buried in Kenya.
On Friday, April 13th, a Memorial service will be held for the late Obor at Stockholm’s Sjukhem Chapel. The Chapel is adjacent to the same hospital where Obor passed away at Fridhemsplan. The service begins at 14.00hrs. Friends, sympathizers and well-wishers are all invited to attend the memorial which will start at 14.00hrs sharp. The George Obor Committee in Stockholm will be dissolved after the family returns from Kenya, time when any other outstanding issues will also be sorted out.
