This is to inform KSB readers that I have decided to retire an earlier article about one debtor who had not paid me back my money at the time of the publication of the said article. We resolved the issue amicably within the 24-hour deadline suggested by KSB (which with-held the debtor’s name). The deadline was scheduled to end at midnight of November 1st 2011. The debtor called early this morning and agreed to pay me the amount of SEK 1000 at my own time. He admitted having been out of circulation for more than a month, due to personal reasons. He had also lost contact with Kenyans after his mobile phone got damaged.
I thank KSB for the initial posting on October 23rd which enabled me to straighten out the issue of my debtors. Someone had deposited SEK 900 into my bank account on October 10, 2011, without writing a name. However, because of the notice, I got an e-mail from the thankless young man, confirming he was the one. He was rather combative claiming he had indicated his name, and wondered why I had referred to him. I answered that he had written “Sedlar” and I was not an angel to know who that was. He then accepted his mistake. He is therefore off the hook.
The woman called me on October 25th after 22:00 and asked if she was the one I had referred to. I answered yes and asked why she had not been in touch. She then replied that she had lost my number but her boyfriend would pay me. The boyfriend paid the balance of SEK 900 last Thursday as promised. She is also off the hook.
When I posted the notice to my debtors, a commentator using the handle “Greg” challenged me to take responsibility and not discuss my private debts in public. What responsibility, yet I was the aggrieved party? I needed no sympathy as he claimed, when I posted at KSB. Why would I suck up to my debtors yet they knew how to reach me? SugarRay and one “Akinyi” also asked the common Kenyan impunity-laden phrase “Utado?” in case I didn’t get my money back. I had stated very clearly that whoever didn’t pay me would be named and shamed at KSB; meaning being exposed for wrong-doing. Anyway, we all comprehend matters differently and what I read from them was the “trigger-happy” urge to thump away their thoughts without understanding the given context. When Celestine posted her then debtor’s name on Facebook and KSB, there were no questions asked except she was praised for her action. Sometimes you cannot lend money through signed agreements because it depends on when a borrower meets you.
Once again, I thank KSB for according me the platform to reach those who owed me money.

A Note from KSB:
We at KSB congratulate the parties who have been involved in this case for having worked out an amicable solution to their problems (in less tha 24hrs) without any names being published at the blog site. This resolution should have been hammered out long before the matter came here and we hope that some lessons have been learnt from this experience. We encourage our esteemed readers to view KSB more as an information channel and less as a problem-solving conduit especially on issues of a personal nature. With all of Jared’s debtors having paid up, our hope is that the matter will now be brought to rest so that Wakenya can continue with the more difficult task of Nation building.
Background Note to an earlier article: Given the huge possibility of damage, KSB has withheld the name of the defaulting debtor for the next 24 hrs to allow for an amicable settlement. We have never handled this type of case before and we find it challenging. We appeal to the “close relative” of the debtor mentioned below and friends who may be in the picture to intervene and save the debtor’s reputation because naming him here for a debt of 1.000kr will not be in his long term interest. Given that two debtors have paid up, we appeal to this Kenyan to find a way of sorting his debts or settle it with Jared privately. If this does not happen, we will have no option but to release the name before the end of Tuesday November 1st 2011. With-holding the name is the best we can do at the moment to help in the situation and under the difficult circumstances.

Kudos Ndugu Odero for your resilience. You have shown that one does not have to suffer in silence when dealing with dodgy debtors. Shout and get your money back.
Odero’s novel method of debt collection is appreciated. But, mind you, it’s only people susceptible to shame who may oblige. Others will carry it on the chest as a decorative medal for valor. Keep it up, Odero.
Naogopa KSB. It has smoked the rats out and they paid madeni mara moja. the debtors are good liars who lost Odero’s phone number when convenient but found it when he came out demanding his money publicly.
KSB: This was a new experience and we did not know exactly how to go about it. As Shakespere would have said, “All is well that ends well”.

You might think the rats have been smoked, but l would say and give a shout out to Dr.Odero.,it was the best thing to do.Most folks have been keeping silent in the name of compassion, however a right and just society is the best way out of the trap of feeling guilty when its you who has been the care giver. It is not with in good faith to receive then decide that its not with in you to do as equity demands.

Some have not complied
This is interesting.I was looking for Jared Odero’s contact since we parted in Stockholm in 1991 only to find his demand notice.Kudo’s though, his Balance Sheet is restored and this serves to justify what is in law that ”He who is seeking Equity must …..”.Bravo Brother Jero remain firm to ”protect your little more”
