Mfumuko wa bei za bidhaa mkiwemo chakula, nishati hasa mafuta ya taa na makaa, kodi ya nyumba na bei ya usafiri hasa ya matatu hivi sasa ni mtikisiko ambao utatikisa serikali na taifa hivi karibuni ikiwa haitatambua ukweli huu na kuchukua hatua madhubuti za kuleta ufumbuzi mara moja. Mamilioni ya Wakenya kote nchini hawali wakashiba, wanakabiliwa na baa la njaa na kuongezeka kwa dhiki za kila aina. Tayari watu wamekufa kwa njaa nchini. Hili linasikitisha. Tena linaaibisha. Na kisha linakasirisha. Aidha, linahofisha kwani bei ya UNGA wa mahindi – chakula cha makabwela – imepanda mno na kuwafanya umma kote nchini – hasa katika mitaa ya mabanda mijini – kutokota na kuchemka hasira na ghamidha za kudai mapinduzi. Je, serikali inasikiliza kilio cha umma kinachosikika kila sehemu usiku na mchana? Au inashikilia ni kelele za chura zisizomzuia ng’ombe kunywa maji!?
Tatizo la njaa halikuzuka leo – limekuwa na mafukara siku zote!
Isitoshe, sehemu nyingi nchini zimegeuka nchi kame kutokana na athari za mabadiliko ya hali ya hewa yaliyosababishwa na maumbile na pia binadamu wenyewe. Tunakubali, bei ya mafuta ya nishati imepanda sana na Kenya haizalishi mafuta ya nishati. Na kupanda kwa bei ya mafuta ya nishati kunaathiri mfumuko wa bei za bidhaa. Pamoja na hayo hii si sababu ya kufanya serikali ikose kufanya na kutekeleza mikakati halisi ya kudhibiti mfumuko wa bei za bidhaa, hasa mahitaji muhimu, hasa chakula na mafuta ya taa. Isijifanye kana kwamba tatizo la chakula limezuka ghafla bin vu. Ukweli ni kwamba njaa imekuwa nasi wakati wote. Ni watu wachache tu nchini ambao wana lishe bora na ya kutosha kila mara. Ingawa tatizo la njaa limezidi leo, kwa kweli si lipya katika mitaa ya mabanda mijini, watu wa jamii za wachungaji na sehemu kame za nchi. Maskwata, wakimbizi ndani ya nchi, wachuuzi, wafanyikazi na wakulima makabwela, mara nyingi hawali wakashiba, sembuse lishe bora.
Serikali lazima iwajibike: itekeleze sera za maksuudi za kuondoa njaa nchini!
Wala tusiambiwe kuwa serikali PNU na ODM haina uwezo wa kusuluhisha tatizo la njaa. Kama haiwezi basi haina sababu ya kuwa uongozini. Nia ya kuleta suluhu endelezi ndiyo haipo maana penye nia hapakosekani njia. Kuna ukosefu wa sera halisi na za maksuudi zinazolenga kutatua matatizo ya makabwela, mkiwemo ukosefu wa lishe bora na ya kutosha. Aidha, sababu za kimsingi za njaa kwa wengi zinajulikana. Sera mbaya za kilimo na mfumo wa kibepari wa umilikaji na utumiaji ardhi zimechangia kuleta ukosefu wa lishe bora na ya kutosha kwa wengi.
Sababu za ukosefu wa chakula na njaa ni uzembe wa serikali!
Kilimo cha wakulima wadogo cha kuzalisha chakula kimepuuzwa huku kile cha mazao ya kuuza hasa – nchi za nje – kikizingatiwa na kuchukua ardhi kubwa na bora zaidi kila siku. Mathalani, ardhi kubwa kupita kiasi yenye rotuba ya mikoa ya Nyanza na Magharibi imepandwa miwa huku kilimo cha chakula kikizoroteka. Hakuna mikakati mizuri ya kufanya maghala ya kuhifadhi chakula wakati wa mavuno mazuri. Sehemu kubwa zaidi ya chakula kinaharibika wakati wa kuvuna na kikisha vunwa. Wataalamu wa kusambaza pembejeo na tekinolojia za kilimo bora kwa wakulima makabwela wamepunguzwa kutokana na shinikizo kutoka nje ya nchi. Hili limeathiri vibaya uzalishaji na kuzidisha mmomonyoko wa udongo na uharibifu wa ardhi na mazingira. Huku tukishuhudia athari za mabadiliko ya hali ya hewa, kilimo cha nchi hii bado kinaendelea kutegemea mvua ya majira huku kilimo cha unyunyizaji kikikua polepole mno na sehemu chache tu nchini. Maonyo ya awali kuhusu hali ya hewa na chakula hayatiliwi manani. Hadi matatizo yafikie mtikisiko ndipo serikali ilazimike kutangaza suluhu za kizimamoto ambazo mara nyingi ni za kuwavisha umma vilemba vya ukoka.
Njaa ni dhihirisho la makinzano ya kitabaka nchini!
Pamoja na haya yote, tatizo la njaa ni sehemu ya makinzano ya kitabaka. Njaa ni tatizo la maskini na umaskini. Si tatizo la matajiri na utajiri. Viongozi wetu na jamaa zao wanakula na kushiba. Wengi wao hawajawahi kukumbana na njaa tangu wazaliwe. Chakula kipo masokoni mijini na mashambani, bali kutokana na ufukara na mfumuko wa bei wengi hawana pesa za kukinunua. Chakula kinaoza sokoni na katika madukamakuu kwa kukosa wanunuzi huku wengi wakikitamani na kukililia. Mbwa wanakula na kusaza huku mafukara wanaramba masahani. Hii ndiyo hali halisi ya mfumo wa ubepari nchini. Ndiyo kwa maana viongozi wamekuwa wakipuuza tatizo hili ambalo limekuwako nasi siku zote. Wakati ambapo idadi kubwa ya Wakenya – ikiwa ni pamoja na maskwata na wakimbizi wa ndani ya nchi – wanalilia ardhi ya kujenga makao, kulima na kuzalisha chakula, ardhi kubwa inayomilikiwa na kuhodhiwa na jamaa chache za kibwanyenye hailimwi wala haitumiki kwa uzalishaji na maendeleo yoyote.
Utekelezaji wa sera za kibeberu nchini unavuruga uchumi na kusababisha njaa!
Uchumi wa biashara, viwanda na kilimo wa kitaifa umeathiriwa vibaya mno na sera za utandawazi wa kibeberu wa uhuruishaji na ubinafsishaji wa uchumi na maisha zinazotekelezwa na serikali ya PNU na ODM. Hili limesababisha ukosefu wa ajira ambao unawafanya Wakenya wengi kuzidi kuwa wachuuzi wa mitumba na bidhaa duni kutoka nchi za nje. Mitumba hutengeneza uchumi wa viwanda na ajira pahali zinapotoka na kuharibu uchumi wa viwanda na ajira nchini. Sera ambazo hazilindi uchumi wa kitaifa, zinazopunguza ajira na kusukuma wengi pembeni haziwezi kutengeneza soko la ndani na kwa sababu hiyo haziwezi kuhamasisha kukua kwa uchumi wa kilimo na viwanda. Matokeo yake ni kuzidi kwa ufukara, upungufu wa chakula na hata njaa.
Badala ya kusambaziwa ’chakula cha msaada’ wahanga wapewe pesa taslimu!
Kufungamana na kifungo 43 cha Katiba ya Kenya kila mtu ana haki kuwa na mahitaji ya kimsingi mkiwemo lishe bora na ya kutosha na hali ya kuepukana na njaa. Kutokana na sera mbaya za kiuchumi, kisiasa na kijamii wananchi wengi wanakabiliwa na njaa. Basi lazima serikali itoe ruzuku ya chakula (’chakula cha msaada’) kwa wahanga wa njaa kote nchini. Ruzuku ya chakula kutoka kwa serikali si msaada bali ni haki yawahanga wa njaa. Bali ni suluhisho la muda mfupi na la kizimamoto tu. Aidha, usambazaji wa ’chakula cha msaada’ kinawadunisha wahanga wa njaa na tena ni ngome ya utapeli na ufisadi. Asilimia kubwa zaidi ya mabilioni ya pesa yanayotumika kununua na kusambaza chakula cha msaada hufaidi zaidi waagizaji wa nafaka kutoka nje; wenye malori; wafanyibiashara wachache wateule marafiki na washirika wa viongozi; walanguzi wa kila aina kutoka ngazi za juu za serikali hadi za mashinani. Kwa wahanga wa njaa, chakula cha msaada kimekuwa cha kuwapaka mafuta nyuma ya chupa. Wahanga wa njaa wapewe pesa taslimu badala ya kuwanunulia na kuwasambazia chakula ambacho si chaguo lao. Wananchi wakiwa na pesa mikononi masoko huria yataleta chakula karibu nao.
Mwisho, haki ya lishe bora na ya kutosha haiwezi kupatikana bila muungano na mapambano ya umma. Tukumbuke maandamano ya amani ni haki ya kikatiba (kifungo 37 cha Katiba ya Kenya). Tushiriki maandamano ya UNGA mnamo Jumanne Mei 31, 2011 ili tujiokoe na njaa!!!

Alice’s Caai wa Mwana: Vote of Thanks from the Makan Family
Mr. and Mrs Makan Macharia welcoming guests at the Caai wa Mwana Party as Alice, the main Guest, looks on. It was fantastic!
On Saturday, May 28th 2011, Kenyans and friends of the Makan family congregated at Norsborg to welcome the little Alice, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Makan Macharia. Through KSB, the family would like to thank all those who attended the event and made it a fantastic day for Alice and the entire family.
For newcomers, Makan is the eldest son of Mr. Martin Ngatia “GG” and Mrs. Grace Nyambura, a Kenya-Stockholm couple who needs no introduction for those who knows them. The couple has several grandchildren with Alice being the latest arrival so far. We hope that the Alimghty will continue to shower blesses upon the whole family now and in the future.
At the Party, there was plenty of song and dance, food and drinks, mixing and politicking at all levels. Typically, this was the place to “touch base” with Kenyans you never come into contact with on a daily basis. Everybody has been bizzi but on this day, those who attended made time to be bizzi at the Party.
Invited guests did not take chances and people were well dressed. To be exact, the ladies “were dressed to kill” and if you were a new comer, you could wonder whether the event was actually a fashion show. The wazee had their wazee attires while the vijana had their flashy clothes, complete with sagging trousers which can, at times, set your mind wondering as to whether there is some cargo pulling the trouser down.
There was one notorious Kenyan who had a heavy diamond bling-bling hanging on his neck and guests could be seen trying to hold it, just to check it out. You couldn’t miss it and the wearer was just too glad to let curious guests have a feel. If you have never felt a real bling on your fingers, it was a great opportunity to fill in as other guests chatted away the evening as if tomorrow would never come.
It was fun as the Manchester United fans took up their Barcelona counterparts. Those interested awaited for the match with great expectations. A wide screen TV set had been placed strategically at the ground floor and when the match kicked off, fans descended downstairs to begin following the match with bated breath.
Some fans had placed huge bets on the game expecting to scoop huge bonuses depending on the outcome. It is very possible that there are fans currently celebrating the big boom following Barcelona’s victory. It was easy to spot those who were not into football because in the conversations, they could not name the players as compared to other die-hards like Nderitu. He could tell you who is gonna score and which Barcelona defender was likely to be problematic.
Nderitu could only find his match in Man Keegan who too, had the names of key players at his fingertips. Keegan could even tell you who would score, who was likely to worry the opponent, who was the man to watch on both sides and which team would win, all in one minute!
Some fans like Don Clay arrived donning neck-scarfs of their favourite teams. Others who did not have any physical indicators to point to the teams they were supporting made sure that they intervened in discussions to register the names of their preferred teams before melting away into the crowd. If you were keen enough, and within a short time, you could tell who was supporting which team while if you were naïve, a dexterous supporter could convince you as to which team would win.
Kenya-Stockholmers duplicating themselves
If you met a Man-U supporter, he would employ sharp analysis to convince you that Man-U would win but five minutes later, a Barcelona fan would turn that analysis upside down leaving you with Barcelona as the only possible winner. The conclusion was that Kenyans are just talented!
Gladly, during the Manchester-Barcelona discussions, there was no tension and when the Barcelona fans carried the day after their team scooped the cup, the Man-U fans simply gave excuses as to why they lost before retreating to catch some swallow to reflect on what had really happened.
It was interesting, linking up with Man Ofore after a long time. During a brief retreat, Ofore did open the “Consciousness Movement” debate although we had very little time to delve deeply into the discussion so we returned to base, promising to take it up another day. Mr. Ofore appeared extremely concerned about the political situation in Kenya, suggesting that the rise of Sonko in Kenyan politics was a “smoking gun” from the point of view of Kenyan politics gone sour.
At the Party, there was yet another observation. While in Kenya, vijana are being accused of not duplicating themselves to sustain humanity, a quick assessment at the Alice Caai wa Mwana bash revealed that Kenyans in Stockholm may be the direct opposite of their counterparts in back home who do not copulate as a result of too much chwaks.
The number of kids who were playing around was basically “uncountable”, just like it was impossible to tell who is who’s duplicate if you have never been introduced. When you factor in kids who were clutched on shoulders because they are “new arrivals” who could not yet play alone, you begin to appreciate the fact that the two words “Kenya-Stockholmers” will never become extinct.
That is after we leave alone the prams that were packed at the Party premise. In fact, some diapers were being changed live at strategic corners while you could see future moms and future dads relaxing quietly, observing events from a safe distance as their teen-age lives ebbed away. I bet, if you could convert yourself into a small God and get into their minds, they could have been contemplating how it feels like to become a parent but do I say? One point is certain though: that the “Alice Caai wa Mwana” was an inspiration which can only be defined by the individuals who experienced the event and for this, the Makan family deserves kudos!
There is a huge Kenya-Stockholm population in the making and there is very little to worry about, at least at the moment. Needless to say, a quick eye-scan of tummies of ladies who have lately been “having it nice” was self-explanatory – new fresh babies in the making so we may have to expect even more Caai wa Mwanazz in Kenya Stockholm in the coming epoch! Isn’t it appropriate to just say “Hallelujah!”
Councilor Mwaura’s speech
When we arrived in Stockholm in the 90s, we never used to attend as much graduation parties of teenies but today, you have to prepare for a minimum of five such graduations every year. If you like it “in other words”, Wakenya in Stockholm have been producing so much in the last two decades that their kids have now joined the “graduating teams”, not just every year, but also in large numbers. This is the generation which sings the Swedish language the way you sing the national anthem. When they are on the phone on the other line, you could think that you are talking to a blond haired, blue eyed white Swedish chap! Sometimes, they pity their parents for speaking such “poor Swedish” but that is beside the point.
It was a while since I last met Man Karanja at the Nyama choma and it was good that we exchanged numbers. Likewise, I was extremely surprised that the “two Stockholm sisters” have fresh new babies each! It is one of those moments when you begin to appreciate the fact that time flies. If you don’t communicate or make a “bump-into” for more than nine months, be ready for anything because life goes on with or without you!
Councilor Mwaura aka Ganjola, gave a very good speech. One thing I don’t understand and which the Ganjola raised is why Sam Pippo are disputing Mwaura’s Ganjolaship. Kenyans, just like many immigrants, voted for Mwaura in the open before he was elected. Now, Sam Pippo, Watu Wengine, Niliambiwa, Wakenya together with losers like Inasemekana are saying that it’s all porojo yet Mwaura sits in the Ganjola meetings every week!
Mwaura’s opponents should give him a break or stand for elections themselves so that we see whether they will accomplish what Mwaura has achieved. You can talk about a “Ganjola’s List” in Bortkyrka Kommun but when the meetings are called, Ganjola Mwaura is always there! Wakenya, let us give credit where it’s due. Mwaura is a fighter and now, he is our Obama in Bortkyrka as a Ganjola. Anybody disputing this fact needs to produce evidence or keep quiet until Jesus Karast comes back to save us all from our sins, be they ulevi, usharati, uabunuasi, ufisadi, umalaya, ubangi and other Uuuuzzz you may think about.
In the same token, Pastor Muirani will be graduating on 11th June 2011. Pastor Muirani has been studying Theology and after satisfying examiners, he is set. I take this opportunity to sincerely congratulate Pastor Muirani on his coming graduation. Kenyans need people like Muirani who can lead by example. After crossing over from the “World of sinners” Pastor Muirani has made a new and significant step. We can only hope that other Kenyans will learn from the Pastor.

KSB’s Statement on Links to Father Kizito’s Nude Photos

Nude photos linked at KSB depicting father Kizito sexually assaulting a young Kenyan male has precipitated an unprecedented crisis at the blog site, forcing the “Top Clicks” link to be temporarily brought down to allow for consultations.
The links were made available at KSB following an avalanche of visitors who were seeking for the pictures after landing at KSB from other search engines. The search for the Father Kizito photos was triggered by a breaking news item in Kenya to the effect that Father Kizito had, for the second time, been arrested on sexual assault charges.
On Thursday, May 26th 2011, 800 curious visitors landed at the father Kizito link at KSB while the blog’s email address has been clogged with hundreds of enquiries about a video footage in which Father Kizito is seen sexually assaulting a young Kenyan dude. The video was pulled down from Youtube by Youtube authorities soon after it was posted at the site by an anonymous Kenyan. The video clip was as graphic as it could get and the photos that were being sought at KSB by readers were snap shots from the video clip. The video existed at Youtube for just 20 minutes before it was pulled down.
This week, Father Kizito was arrested in Kenya on suspicion of sexual assault of a Kenyan and the sudden interest in the nude photos at KSB was driven by the fact that there has been no evidence (especially in the Internet) about Father Kizito’s alleged sexual assaults of young Kenyan citizens. The Father Kizito KSB link therefore provided the only photographic evidence about the priest’s illegal sexual escapades with his young Kenyan victims.
The “Top Clicks” link at KSB was temporarily pulled down to allow for consultations with KSB’s lawyers and Board members. Although there is no law being broken by KSB in making the links available to readers, the biggest problem is that the “Top Clicks” link related to Father Kizito provides direct access to material that can legally be classified as “pornographic”. Given the fact that KSB’s audience comprises of readers of diverse age groups, informed opinion considered it appropriate that readers in certain age brackets be protected from direct access to potentially pornographic material of the Father Kizito type.
Although links to the photos still exists at KSB, there is a warning that the published links leads to adult material. At the “Top Clicks” link, there is no warning. As a matter of policy, KSB does not expose readers to pornographic or potentially pornographic material. However, the case of Father Kizito has been unique.
On the one hand, there is a sexual assault charge against Father Kizito while on the other, there is the position that there is so far no evidence that Father Kizito has been involved in any sexual assault of any Kenyan.
Since KSB has been in the know about the existence of the Father Kizito photos, it is the position of the Management that in as much as the availability of the Kizito photos link “promotes pornography”, it is important that the world’s attention is drawn to the hard fact that Father Kizito is a sexual molester. There is no way of underlining this point without providing access to these photos and we hope that readers will agree.
Under the circumstances, KSB’s Management believes that links to the photos should continue to be made available at the blog site. Likewise, the “Top Clicks” link will also be restored as soon as possible following this clarification.
We regret any inconveniences that may be caused to the “little ones” or their minders as a result of the availability of the links but for the sake of truth, it is the view of KSB that links to the photos be made available in the face of suppression of hard evidence that clearly demonstrates Father Kizito’s sexual exploitation of young Kenyan citizens.
KSB cannot influence the outcome of the court case but we can help in getting the truth out. This will go a long way in shaming the forces that are trying to protect Father Kizito by freeing him from sexual assault charges or portraying him as an innocent soul being wrongly accused of sexually assaulting Kenyans. This Statement has been released out of the conviction that we owe our readers an explanation following the publication of links to Father Kizito’s nude photos. We welcome any comments or discussions around the subject.
