I’ll start by making an addition to the list of people shocked by Owili’s sudden departure. It is a very sad period for Kenya Stockholm not to mention the Owili and Goga family among the other bereaved. On the other hand I would suppose the Almighty Creator is enjoying a very fruitful harvest time.

Butdoisay aka Clay Onyango posted a rhetorical question about a fortnite ago on his blog. He was questioning the ‘withering away’ of the first generation of Kenya-Stockholmers and it is reaching a point that calls for some serious concern.

Owili was a uniquely honest man who humbly and freely shared his opinions with all kinds of people. That is infact a very strong character because I have to say that despite the massive age gap, I can undoubtly only think of him as a good friend first… ja-Kanea second(in that order).

May I convey my father Tony Arwa’s condolences alongside my own. I managed to introduce the two but I suppose they were not destined to meet in this time.

Am shocked to learn the death of philip.My heart goes to the next of kin. poleni sana and I do hope that God will give you strength in these difficult times. I met philip in the early 2000 and he was my workmate at Danvikshem here in stockholm. He was great story teller and infact he had a sense of humor.

Its really sad, life is very short indeed. My the lord rest him in eternal peace

Its a sad day.Its unbeliveable.Owili Ongaro has gone.May his soul rest.Amen.His passing demands serious critical analysis of trends taking place in the diaspora,above all ,the place of family.The question that begs to be delved into ,is “Who is family ,and what role does the institution of marriage play”,in the diaspora.Its my view that we mourn ,and we also soul search.
The passing of Owili Ongaro ,is in it self both sad and joyous.Its sad that l as Otieno lost a buddy ,a kindred spirit whose interpretation of life ,was joyous and satirical.On the other hand it has left a vacuum for the community in Stockholm ,to explore reasons why we die such unwarranted deaths.

I send my heart-felt condolences to the entire family of the late Mr. Philip Owili Ongaro aka Architect. His passing is untimely and quite shocking to all of us who knew him. He was a knowledgeable man who had a wide grasp of global matters and a big interest for a better Kenya. Philip was a jovial man who was concerned with the well-being of others, and always encouraged them in their endeavors. He will be deeply missed.

May God rest his soul in eternal peace.
