Sumba’s Passing: Kenyans to Meet At Continental Hotel
Kenyans will meet at Continental Hotel at T-Centralen on Saturday 17th October from 18.00 hrs to set up the “Onyango Sumba Funeral Committee” and to discuss what can be done following his death in Kenya. Kenyans, friends and well wishers are requested to turn up at the meeting to help give Mr. Sumba a good send off. Mr. Sumba was a nationalist who had transcended tribal and racial barriers and it is important that any moves to organize an intervention in his funeral be open to everybody interested in making a contribution. It is in this spirit that this invitation is being extended.

Mr. Onyango Sumba was a True Nationalist
Dear Friends, I have learnt of the passing away of Mr. Patrick Onyango Sumba with profound shock. The late Onyango was indeed a true nationalist – one of the few in his generation who sacrificed personal glory (when he had it all) to deliver for his countrymen to enjoy democracy at a time when it was thought that Moi was unbeatable.
Moi did indeed go and there is still a lot to be done but the name of Mr. Onyango Sumba deserves a footnote in Kenyan history. Not many Kenyans (or Africans for that matter) have had the talent to walk the lawns of Munich Olympic stadium to participate in an official program of talent and endurance. Onyango did just that at the Munich Olympic Games as a participant.
It is God’s will. Let’s pray for his family during these difficult times. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
