An Appreciation

Dr. Chameleon greeting fans

Dr. Chameleon greeting fans

I am a Ugandan lady by the names of Huda Ceasar. I would like to thank Mr. Okoth Osewe for the  great job he did this Friday the 9th of October . This day was the Ugandan independence day and artists like Jose Chameleon, DJ Mike etc performed at Alvik Folketshus and the whole show was filmed by Mr.Okoth Osewe. Mr. Okoth did capture the whole concert whole heartedly. He is such a sweetheart, gentleman and down to earth person .

First, I was afraid of contacting him to request if he had time to film and interview the artist, Jose chameleon, but since he was the same man who helped  to inform the public about our late brother Hussein Ssembatya’s death (including when Hussein was  hospitalized), I realised he is such a willing person ready to help where  and whenever there is need especially when it comes to issues pertaining to Africans in Sweden .

Through a Kenyan friend of mine called Malko, I got to speak to Mr. Okoth and explained my request. Without hesitation, he said it was fine with him and there and then time was discussed when to pick him up and there he was ready on time.

What amused me most when we picked him up was that he was very cool and I asked myself whether he knew how much his work is appreciated or how much influence he has on the African community in Sweden especially to the East African community. He is the guy that has made it easier for us, Africans  in Sweden,  to be able  to share our griefs and happiness with fellow Africans. Mr. Osewe’s blog is the quickest way out.

For example, when my best friend Hussein Ssembatya was in hospital and wanted me to inform his friends that he was hospitalised, I  did not have all the phone numbers to his friends. A Kenyan friend told me to contact Mr. Okoth whom I even didn’t know by then. She told me that through his blog (which a big number of Kenyans visit to get their daily news), my problem would be solved.

Since most of the friend’s of Hussein were Kenyans, I thought it was a great idea. Well, I did  contact Mr. Osewe thru Malko, my Kenyan friend, and in just hours, people were already calling on the late Hussein’s mobile phone which I had from the time he became unable to talk.

All in all, my message to  Mr. Osewe is that he should keep up the great job and God works miracles. He is the living example of God’s miracles. Mr. Osewe, you are an angel and I am blessed and honoured to know you. Don’t forget that you  also played a great roll in sending  Husseins body back home where he wished to be buried.

By the way, we are planning for a minnes stund (memorial) for Hussein. It’s not too late. We want to share a meal and a drink with all our brothers and sisters who contributed to the transportation of the late Hussein’s body to Uganda for burial. You will be informed soon about that. JAH BLESS.

From  Huda and Peder

Huda and Peder, thank you very much for your appreciation. We need to build a strong East African community here in Stockholm because we are one people. Being able to develop a media for communication is a step towards forging lasting unity – Okoth Osewe.
