Stranded Kenyan Woman Leaves For Kenya

Plane carrying Kenyan woman takes off at Armstadam after she connected a flight from Stockholm

A Kenyan woman and her little baby girl who was turned back at Arlanda International Airport on Monday travelled to Kenya yesterday, (Tuesday December 9) in the morning after her ticket hitch was fixed by the Kenyan Travel Agency.

When she went to check in at Arlanda, she was told that her name was not on the passenger list for the flight she was scheduled to take, forcing her to return home.

According to the Agency, which spoke to KSB, the Kenyan woman had a serious problem because when she booked the flight, she indicated that she was being accompanied by “an infant” which in terms of flight bookings, is a child under two years.

According to the Agent, the main problem is that the child celebrated her 2nd birthday in November this year, time when the ticket had already been purchased and paid for at the rate of “under two years”. When she went to the airport, the Agent told KSB that the issue had not been sorted out because the ticket had not been adjusted to reflect the baby’s current age.

“I told her not to get to the Airport but she did so without clearance”, the Agent told KSB.

According to the Agent, the ticket was not ready and when the matter was brought before the Agency, the Kenyan lady sorted out the price difference and the matter was resolved causing her to travel 24 hours after she was turned away. The woman and her daughter are currently in Kenya.

The Agent said that there are internal issues which never comes out when such incidences are reported and added that it was his responsibility as a businessman who values customers to correct the wrong impression that may have been created to the effect that the Agency is incompetent.

He said that there was nothing “defective” with the ticket as reported in KSB because according to the Agency, the Kenyan woman “had no ticket” as long as the price difference related to the child remained unresolved.

In the meantime, Mr. Clay Onyango, a Kenyan businessman, has told KSB that he is not the Agent being referred to in the case and advised that Kenyans should stop mentioning his name in this case because he has nothing to do with it.

In a text message sent to KSB, Mr. Clay said that he wound up his Travel Agency business two years ago and advised that his name should be kept out of the scandal. He was concerned that a commentator had mentioned his name in the scandal and took the position that this was unfair as he is not involved. We hope that readers will take note and leave Mr. Clay alone.
